Anime Review-The Shiunji Family Children.
Today I'm back with a new anime for you. Today's anime is really great and it brought me a very special feeling. Today I'm going to talk about this anime called The Shiunji Family Children, which is one of the most different and fun series I've seen recently.
This series aired in the first half of 2025 and consisted of a total of 12 episodes. It was produced by Studio Doga Kobo in Japan, and directed by Ryoki Kamitsubo. At the center of the story is a young man named Arata Shiunji, who is the eldest brother of a family. Seeing everyone in the family together, it may seem like they are living a completely normal, happy life, but there is a secret hidden here that has a profound effect on the entire family. The story takes a turn when Arata's father announces that not everyone in this family is actually blood related! After hearing this information, complex emotions, doubts, and the discovery of new relationships between the family members begin.
I think the best part of this series is the depth of its characters and their portrayal of psychological conflicts. Although Arata considers himself the leader of the family, after learning this information, he is confused about his own feelings. Arata's younger sister and twin Ouka is a bit strong-willed, but she also has anxiety. The other family members are also lost in their own thoughts, some want to express their feelings of love, while others suppress themselves out of shame. These emotions and tensions in relationships combine to create a unique atmosphere. Although the plot of the story is mostly a combination of light comedy and romance, at times it takes a serious dramatic turn. I saw how the series gradually penetrates into emotional depths, where not only laughter and jokes, but also the complexity of relationships emerge. It often reminds us of how complex our own family relationships are and how they are sometimes filled with unspoken emotions.
Studio Doga Kobo did a good job in the animation part. The expressions of the characters, their facial expressions are very natural and beautifully convey the emotions of the story. The use of colors is quite vibrant, and the color changes in different scenes are pleasant to the mood. I really liked the opening theme Honey Lemon. The song captures the mood of the series very well. It is pleasant, vibrant, and a little sweet. And the ending theme, which is sung by the characters themselves, also gives a special feeling. An important aspect of the series is the questions that arise about family and the ‘definition of relationship’. Even if there is no blood relationship, can people call each other family? Is blood relationship mandatory for love? I was forced to think about it myself while trying to find answers to all these questions, because in real life, such relationships are much more complicated. The series does not give any easy answers, but rather shows the different aspects of relationships and the complexity of human emotions.

To be honest, although some scenes in the series are a bit too much at times, it did not confuse me. On the contrary, those scenes also intensify the emotions of the story. This series is perfect for those who like a little suspense, romance, and family drama. Especially those who like to watch a mix of comedy and drama, they can easily get involved with this series. The dubbed version is also quite good. The English dubbers have captured the emotions of the characters well, which makes the viewing experience even better. Although I personally prefer the subtitled version, the effort that has been made in the dubbed version is also commendable.
Finally, I would like to say that The Shiunji Family Children was an experience that made me laugh and think. On the one hand, it is a light-hearted comedy, on the other hand, it is a question of deep emotions and relationships. I personally hope that there will be more seasons of this series, because many aspects of this family's story are still unknown and many more discoveries await in the future. I highly recommend this series to those who love anime and are interested in watching new types of stories.
If you like a combination of family relationships, emotions, and the occasional light laugh, The Shiunji Family Children should definitely be on your plate. For me, this is not just a series, but a place of reflection where new meanings of relationships are sought and the various colors of human emotions emerge.

I like family drama but I don't like to watch harem, not sure if this is one of them. Anyway, nice review though.
