Hello everyone! first of all, let me say this....I was not ready for Horimiya. I felt that it was going to be another high school anime with some romance, some laughter and lovely moments. You know, normal things , but there was nothing. It is not in love with just two people. It is more liked...Two people slowly let each other go inside, showing some parts of themselves that they do not show to anyone else. And this is more difficult than I expected.

It felt strange to see, such as someone quietly holding a mirror to all strange, soft, hidden parts of my teen. Yes, it became deep real. And the thing is....it never screams for your attention. It’s quiet, soft. But powerful in the most unexpected way. Let me tell you why this anime stayed with me.

Story Summary and My Review

So here’s how it starts, Hori is this bright, friendly, popular girl at school. Everyone likes her. Smart, dependable, that kind of vibe. But the Hori you see in class? Not the same girl. At home, she’s busy taking care of her little brother, doing chores, cooking....basically holding the house together. She's not out partying or living the so called popular girl life at all.

Now Miyamura...he’s different. He has some long hair, glasses and he's super quiet. The kind of guy you forget is even in the classroom. People assume he’s a nerd and a loner. But outside school he has piercings, tattoos, and honestly....he looks kinda super cool. Totally not what you'd expect.

These two meet by chance when Miyamura helps Hori’s little brother, and that’s where things start. But what really pulled me in wasn’t the romance itself. It was the way they opened up to each other. Slowly. Naturally. No big drama, no sudden “I love you” screams....just soft moments that feel real.

I loved how Miyamura started changing...not because Hori made him change, but because he started seeing himself differently through her eyes. He stopped hiding. He cut his hair. He started smiling more. You could feel the weight slowly lifting off him. That scene where he thinks something like, “If I never met her, I’d still be half-asleep”....yeah, that one thing I will remember for a long time.

And Hori, too. She isn’t just this perfect dream girl.” She gets jealous. Even she gets insecure. There's this weird moment where she wants Miyamura to be a bit more aggressive and she doesn’t even fully know why. It’s messy. But real. Relationships are weird like that, and this anime doesn’t show it clearly.

The side characters? Oh man. They aren’t just some random characters. Yuki, Remi, Sengoku, even little Sota....they all have their own stories happening quietly in the background. And some of those felt just as real as the main plot. Yuki's quiet sadness, for example? That messed me up more than I expected. You think he is just comic relief, but then from anywhere, you are sitting there, like "Wait ... he is alone?"

Horimiya is different from other high school romances in how it respects its characters. Nobody is just a trop. The popular girl has responsibilities. The introvert has hidden confidence. Even the loud guy has soft spots. The anime doesn’t over explain any of it....it just shows you what it should be.

And that’s the thing. It doesn’t just make you emotional. It lets you feel them. Sometimes through silence. Sometimes through a weird joke. Or just two people sitting next to each other, not even saying much, but you get it.

Also, can we talk about how visually warm the anime feels? Not flashy or intense...but soft. Pastel-ish colors, quiet backgrounds, a soundtrack that just blends in. It all works together to keep the focus on the emotions, not the effects. I found myself getting lost in those little in-between moments. Like when they're walking home and talking about random stuff. Or just looking at each other with that “you understand me” kind of look.

And it’s not like it avoids the tough stuff. It shows anxiety, identity issues, fear of rejection...but in this very quiet, believable way. Nothing is overdone. It’s all subtle, like how life actually feels when you're a teen figuring things out.

One of my favorite parts? Miyamura's friendship with Shindau. It is a random pair at the first time, but there is comfort between them that seems so real. It is not only about romance - Harimia nail friendship also.. That messy, teasing, but supportive kind.

And the comedy? It is strange and sudden, but it is what makes it fun. Like someone finds something strange and everyone just takes a nap. It seems natural, not scripted.

As long as the anime wrapped, I honestly did not want to end it. It was not because the story was incomplete ,it's just that it felt like saying goodbye to heat something. Like a chapter of your life. I actually paused during the last episode just to hold on a bit longer. Is that dramatic? Maybe. But I really did feel that way.

Recommendation?

So who should watch Horimiya? If you love watching loud, dramatic love stories, then it's sad news that maybe this won’t feel you in the right way. But if you like things that feel quiet but deep...if you’ve ever hidden parts of yourself from people...or if you’ve ever slowly and awkwardly shared yout feelings to someone else....watch this one.
It’s not perfect. But honestly, that’s what makes it beautiful.

Então, aqui está como tudo começa: Hori é essa garota brilhante, amigável e popular na escola. Todo mundo gosta dela. Inteligente, confiável, esse tipo de vibe. Mas a Hori que você vê na aula? Não é a mesma garota. Em casa, ela está ocupada cuidando do irmão mais novo, fazendo tarefas, cozinhando... basicamente mantendo a casa unida. Ela não está saindo para festas nem vivendo a chamada vida de garota popular.

Agora Miyamura...ele é diferente. Ele tem cabelo comprido, usa óculos e é super quieto. O tipo de cara que você esquece que está até na sala de aula. As pessoas assumem que ele é um nerd e um solitário. Mas fora da escola ele tem piercings, tatuagens e, sinceramente... ele parece meio super legal. Totalmente diferente do que você esperaria.

Esses dois se encontram por acaso quando Miyamura ajuda o irmão mais novo de Hori, e é aí que as coisas começam. Mas o que realmente me cativou não foi a própria romance. Foi a maneira como eles se abriram um para o outro. Devagar. Naturalmente. Sem grandes dramas, sem gritos repentinos de "eu te amo"....apenas momentos suaves que parecem reais.

Adorei como Miyamura começou a mudar... não porque Hori o fez mudar, mas porque ele começou a se ver de forma diferente através dos olhos dela. Ele parou de se esconder. Ele cortou o cabelo. Ele começou a sorrir mais. Você podia sentir o peso lentamente se levantando dele. Aquela cena em que ele pensa algo como: "Se eu nunca a tivesse conhecido, ainda estaria meio adormecido"... sim, essa é uma coisa que vou lembrar por muito tempo.

E a Hori também. Ela não é apenas essa garota dos sonhos perfeita. Ela fica com ciúmes. Até ela fica insegura. Há esse momento estranho em que ela quer que Miyamura seja um pouco mais agressivo e ela nem sabe exatamente por quê. É confuso. Mas real. Relacionamentos são estranhos assim, e este anime não mostra isso claramente.

Os personagens secundários? Ah, cara. Eles não são apenas personagens aleatórios. Yuki, Remi, Sengoku, até o pequeno Sota... todos eles têm suas próprias histórias acontecendo silenciosamente ao fundo. E algumas dessas histórias se sentiram tão reais quanto a trama principal. A tristeza silenciosa de Yuki, por exemplo? Isso me afetou mais do que eu esperava. Você pensa que ele é apenas alívio cômico, mas então, de repente, você está lá, tipo "Espera ... ele está sozinho?"

Horimiya é diferente de outros romances de escola secundária na forma como respeita seus personagens. Ninguém é apenas um estereótipo. A garota popular tem responsabilidades. Além disso, podemos falar sobre como o anime parece visualmente acolhedor? Não é chamativo ou intenso... mas suave. Cores pastel, fundos silenciosos, uma trilha sonora que simplesmente se mistura. Tudo isso funciona junto para manter o foco nas emoções, não nos efeitos. Eu me peguei me perdendo nesses pequenos momentos intermediários. Como quando estão indo para casa e falando sobre coisas aleatórias. Ou apenas se olhando com aquele olhar de "você me entende".

E não é como se evitasse as coisas difíceis. Mostra ansiedade, questões de identidade, medo de rejeição... mas de uma maneira muito silenciosa e crível. Nada é exagerado. É tudo sutil, como a vida realmente se sente quando você é um adolescente descobrindo as coisas.

Uma das minhas partes favoritas? A amizade de Miyamura com Shindau. É um par aleatório no começo, mas há um conforto entre eles que parece tão real. Não é apenas sobre romance - Harimia também acerta na amizade. Aquele tipo bagunçado, provocador, mas solidário.

E a comédia? É estranho e repentino, mas é isso que o torna divertido. Como alguém encontra algo estranho e todos simplesmente tiram uma soneca. Parece natural, não ensaiado.

Desde que o anime terminou, honestamente, eu não queria que acabasse. Não era porque a história estava incompleta, é só que parecia uma despedida de algo querido. Como um capítulo da sua vida. Na verdade, eu pausei durante o último episódio só para segurar um pouco mais. É dramático? Talvez. Mas eu realmente me senti assim.

Então, quem deve assistir Horimiya? Se você adora assistir histórias de amor barulhentas e dramáticas, então é uma má notícia que talvez isso não te agrade da maneira certa. Mas se você gosta de coisas que parecem silenciosas, mas profundas... se você já escondeu partes de si mesmo das pessoas... ou se você já compartilhou seus sentimentos com alguém de forma lenta e desajeitada... assista a este.
