My First Earning / Pocket Money Story

Greetings dear Hiveans and members of India United community.

I had my first earning while doing my College degree. While receiving it from little hands, I was almost to tears - tears out of joy and happiness. From little hands I meant students from primary school.

This earning was of great help to me when I pursued my Degree in library science. With this steady income, I was able to bear my owm education fees lessening the burden of my dear father.

I used to take home tuitions for school students from grade 3 to 5 and grade 6 to 8. I must admit the fact that they were my first best batch. Never reluctant, always happy and always eager to know & learn more.

The happiness was doubled when I saw their term results and their parents curiosity to continue their tuition with me. Infact, some parents never hesitated to gift me with a new dress material along with the fees, when their final resuls were out.

The first pocket money I received was from my maternal Aunt, who always made sure I get my share on each yearly visit. As mentioned in my earlier post, I studied in another state, while my native remains another.

Every vacation, may be once a year or once in two years we made a visit to our native as all our relatives are settled there. Though I used to get pocket money from few of my relatives, the one from my maternal Aunt was special because she gave it with much love and cared for me a lot.

Today, she is no more with us. I lost her during my high school days. But I can never forget her smiling face when she gave me pocket money, along with a new dress. I could see the pain in her eyes, while Iam leaving the place.

Next to her comes my grandma, who used to give me a meagre pocket money. Tears whelmed out while giving me this money and she kept saying "dear I don't have any income, so can give you only this much".

This small earnings made be independent and taught me how to adjust things with this minimal earnings. I am proud to say that I still follow this simple steps.
