Beer Tasting 🍺 Kloster Helles 🍺 Wieninger Zwickl

Hello, beer lovers! 🍻

How are you? We survived Christmas here, and now New Year's Eve is fast approaching. Only essential services are still working here, while the rest of us are already in a festive mood. 😎

Most people are drinking mulled wine and spirits. Still, since it's #beersaturday, the 443rd in a row, and I don't usually miss it,😂 I'll be tasting beer.

Two German bottles from Kalea Beer Box are waiting for me, and I will be happy to share my experience with you.
First, one with less ALC.

🍻 😎 🍻

Alpirsbacher Kloster Helles

Brewed by Alpirsbacher Klosterbräu, Alpirsbach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 5.1% ABV, IBU 20. Helles - Lager beer.

What do the Master Brewers say?

Brilliant, light gold color with a fine-pored, firm head. Finely filtered. Delicate malt aromas and a pleasant floral-fruity hop note wonderfully round off the elegant body. The finish is absolutely balanced and harmonious. In addition, our Kloster Helles has been awarded the Baden-Württemberg quality seal, which guarantees that all the raw ingredients used in the beer come from the region.

🍺

The beer is golden in color, with a generous, creamy head that dissipates quickly. It has no particular aroma other than that of fresh malt. It goes down smoothly, with a slight malt sweetness and hints of herbal bitterness in the mouth.
The aftertaste is dominated by hop bitterness, which lingers for a while as everything else fades.

A drinkable and tasty beer, harmonized with delicate and balanced flavors, nothing excessive. It's not bad at all, intended for everyday drinking, brewed according to the standards for Schwarzwald Helles lagers, but nothing distinctive to highlight.

It is not available in local stores, except occasionally at Kalea-Beer-Box.

🍻 😎 🍻

Wieninger Zwickl

Brewed by Privatbrauerei M.C. Wieninger, Teisendorf, Bayern, Germany.
Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 5.2% ABV, IBU 18. Zwickl Lager beer.

What do the Master Brewers say?

Zwickl is the name of the tap used by the master brewer to draw samples in the storage cellar. This unfiltered lager contains all the natural sediment from yeast, hops, and malt. It has a balanced and mild flavor.

🍺

The beer is cloudy yellow, unfiltered, with average foam that quickly dissipates. It has no particular aroma. It goes down smoothly, with a slight malt sweetness and a fresh-bread, grainy mouthfeel.
The aftertaste is dominated by hop bitterness, with everything else fading.

A drinkable and tasty beer that follows the Bavarian brewing tradition, balanced, with mild flavors and aromas. But, as with the previous ones, nothing particularly distinctive or exceptional, all very balanced and mild, classic and standard.

It's not available locally, but I would definitely choose it over some mass-produced industrial beer that you can find everywhere.

🍻 😎 🍻

And what am I listening to when writing this and tasting beer? Nothing from Friday's #newtunes. Something else, from my youth. The Glass Bead Game - Lizard Square.

You reminded me of Hermann Hesse with the reference to the glass beads. I know it's completely unrelated, but I suddenly imagined myself reading by a campfire while listening to that music and drinking the second beer you shared with us, haha.

Haha, yes. For some time, but already a couple of decades ago, Herman Hesse was really my favorite writer. !INDEED
