Estoy realizando un ciclo de canciones navideñas compuestas por mi tío Alejandro Tovar. Hoy es el turno de presentarles su tema "La lechuza".

I am making a cycle of Christmas songs composed by my uncle Alejandro Tovar. Today is the turn to present his song "La lechuza"(The Owl)

Muchas canciones navideñas giran alrededor de diversos animalitos pero nunca le habían compuesto a la lechuza su canción. Mi tío Alejandro notó esto y le cantó a la lechuza, le cantó a sus ojos y dió la idea de cómo brindar con ella.

Many Christmas songs revolve around various animals but they have never composed their song for the owl. My uncle Alejandro noticed this and sang to the owl, he sang to her eyes and gave the idea of how to toast her.

Hay algunos términos que encuentro oportuno aclarar. En Venezuela se acostumbra llamar Pascua a la Navidad, hago la salvedad porque sé que en otros lugares este término se utiliza solo para la Pascua de Resurrección.

There are some terms that I find appropriate to clarify. In Venezuela it is customary to call Christmas Easter, I make the reservation because I know that in other places this term is used only for Easter.

La canción comienza diciendo "En la Pascua siempre se us componer un canto con nombre de animal"
Y es que, realmente, son muchos los cantos navideños en los que aparecen animalitos, y no solo nos referimos a los que tradicionalmente se encuentran en los pesebres o belenes (ovejas, la mula, el buey, los camellos de los magos), sino de aves como el tucusito, el pajarito, el perico, chivito, becerro, patito, torito ¡Y pare usted de contar! Tal vez porque por motivos supersticiosos se vería más asociada a otras fechas que a la Navidad.
