Un gran saludo a toda la comunidad de músicos de Music Zone. En esta semana 178 comenzamos la tríada de rondas. En esta ronda 1 deseo compartir con ustedes una canción que es muy probable que no hayan escuchado

Se trata de "Dama Antañona", una canción que habla de la mujer caraqueña de la época de la colonia.

En esa época Caracas no era la ciudad cosmopolita que es ahora. Era la Caracas de los techos rojos de la que habló Pérez Bonalde en su poema "Vuelta a la patria"

En ese tiempo el centro de la vida religiosa y social era la iglesia. Las damas y caballeros de la época lucían sus mejores galas para asistir a la Misa Dominical de las diez de la mañana, llamada simplemente "la Misa de 10"

A esa Misa asistían las damas usando la mantilla o velo andaluz para cubrir su cabeza, lo que dió lugar a qué lasfueran conocidas como "mantuanas" .

La canción detalla algunas costumbres de la época y luego las compara con la época moderna - para aquel entonces. Protesta y denuncia que como antítesisa a las caraqueñas de la época de la colonia, tímidas, románticas, cándidas, que oía serenatas desde el balcón, las de los tiempos "modernos" tienen una mirada provocativa, aire de "sport, se mueve con los " lúbricos esguinces que impone el foxtrot" fue un baile de ritmo alegre, procedente de los Estados Unidos de América, que estuvo de moda a principios del siglo XX.
