Survival Got Revamped

Survival Mode has been around for about 5 months now (6 months if we include the 2 seasons that it was paused) as the 3rd ranked format that was introduced by Splinterlands. In this format, all card sets can be played, except for the Foundation Set, and it does not consume any Energy to start a battle, unlike other modes. The caveat is that when monsters are defeated, they will be unusable for a certain amount of time, regardless of whether it was from the losing or winning team, which adds more tension to each match. Not only that, the cooldown also takes effect outside Survival, meaning that the cards defeated in Survival can't be used in other formats, as well as in tournaments and brawls, making players with only a single deck reluctant to participate.
But recently, an update was made in the Survival Mode that makes cards that were defeated still usable in other formats.

Starting August 5, 2025, Splinterlands has implemented a major change in the Survival Mode as part of their weekly maintenance. The change is about restricting the cards cooldown period when it gets defeated only in Survival Mode, so that it can still be used in other formats in order to encourage participation in the game. Just a quick refresher, here is a table of the card's cooldown per level, rarity, and foil.
I think that this update was great because as someone with only a single deck to play, one of my greatest fear that makes me distance away from Survival Mode is that, subjecting my cards in cooldown makes me unable to participate in Brawls, which not only affects me, but also the overall performance of my guild. Usually, what I will do so that I can play Survival Mode was to used up all my Energy, playing Modern format within the last day of the season and switched to Survival though at that time, the reward pool has been significantly depleted.
But now, all those fears are gone and all players can now play survival freely whenever they want without their cards becoming disabled in other formats. I think this was also the case with other players, and the recent change has resulted for the increase in daily battles in Survival Mode.

Looking at the amount of battles since the update, Survival battles has significantly increased though this were bound to get lower due to the fact that cards are being defeated and undergoing a cooldown period.

At the same time, there was almost no change within the total battles played in both Modern and Wild Format.
Enable All Your Cards In Survival
Now that, card cooldown in Survival Mode no longer affects other formats, you can now freely flag your cards for Survival Mode. This feature was previously used to separate cards that players don't want to use in Survival. But now, this feature was technically useless and will just limit the number of cards you can use to the mode. If you had cards that were disabled for Survival Mode, you can enable them all by going to your Card Collection Page, select Survival Mode Disabled and click the Enable button next to the card filters.
Same thing goes if you had card sets that you disabled in Survival Mode. Just select the name of the card set within the filters and you can mass enable them all by clicking the enable button.
Alternatively, you can also go to Peakmonsters and in your card collection, select the card that were disabled from Survival and enable them. With this, you can significantly increase the number of battles that you can play in Survival.
Closing
And that was the recent update in Survival Mode, made to increase player participation. Currently, Survival mode was still in the testing phase where it may implement changes withing the upcoming days which is necessary for the format to survive. Remember that as of the moment, the company is the one supplying the rewards for the format but after that, they will request the SPS DAO to shoulder it through a proposal and defending on the communities sentiment, it existence is at risk.

it's a good revamp. Even I might just play survival for fun~
Yeah.. I played some battles right after I finished playing modern and frontier to slowly increase my rating.
o.o that's a good plan. I think i saw u in frontier we played against each other lol
That was a close match. well... every match is since the stats of the cards does not vary from each other that much.
o.o ya i dont even remember played too many. frontier can make earnings now. i saw a lot of people max out their cards already lol
