A Habit That Changed My Life has been adding one sport or physicall activity at each stage of my life journey, which keeps me active and fit.

I began my journey with seven years of intensive yoga. It was not just engaging in this activity, but it became my anchor, helping me balance both mind and body.
The moment I realized this I could not do it every day anymore, running became the next chapter in my life. For almost a decade, it gave me confidence in my body and strengthened my inner self. I have run more than 10 marathons, over 35 half marathons, and some ultra marathons. This is my estimate, I don’t remember how many 10 km I have done over the decade. I still run and do my yoga, as these are my core sports activities I have pursued for a long time. This was the time I pushed my comfort zone, challenged myself and experienced the joy in movement.

I learnt swimming the moment I knew that I had a fear of water, and I wanted to get out of it. This was my third sport. Even after learning swimming I still feel fear, but have completed my 4 rafting trips after it, and swum in the rivers and sea under safe conditions. Each step brought not just skill, but a deeper understanding of myself.

Once I had swimming experience, I started trekking, which I felt needed another level of fitness and mindset to survive in uncomfortable conditions, altitude and extreme cold. However, I also learnt to observe small details during the trek, which was not part of other sports. I find many flowers which I have never seen before, the sun set just sitting until it disappears, heard each breath that becomes harder to take at high altitude and experienced a slow life, not in a hurry, but cherishing each part of my feelings.

After that, I have learnt netball and played till state level, football, touch rugby, handball, cycling and nowadays I am learning Frisbee. I realise over the years how much joy comes from trying something new and unfamiliar, which makes me nervous at the same time increases my curiosity.
In all these sports and activities one thing is common in my habit, that creating scope for me to keep myself fit. Adding these activities does not always keep me healthy and fit, but it always helps me to grow, create a network of great people, and heal my inner self.

I also learnt that I am not a person who can continue with one type of sports or physical activity to keep myself motivated. And rather than feeling bored or done enough in a particular physical activity, I have chosen different sports to keep me going. It’s like a child who can enjoy with their favourite toys but eventually moves on to new things and learnt to celebrate change.
