HiveChess Saturday Tournament - Round No. 10 Recap

Hello everyone.
After some time I managed to play whole and decent Saturday tournament.
Somehow game play seemed smooth and results were above my play level. Nice to have good tournament once in a while.

Some games were good and some more of a present from my opponents. All combined was good enough for 4th place in this round. Quite a success. There was even a 4 game winning streak in the Arena. Can you believe it?

This is my game against @fcastro177. Before this game I won 2 games and this win was quite a boost.
Here I managed to enter with my pawn on opponents side on h2. The knight on e2 was quite strong and my pieces are not fully developed at this point.

Here after King moved to h1 which was apparently mistake I should have gone for a pawn. Yet I saw possible mate at f3 and wanted to remove knight defending f3. That was reason to play e8 which was blunder.

And here I got surprised by move pawn to f4. I felt it was good for me and took the pawn.

After that it was time for a rook sacrifice.

After rook I went for a another sacrifice with Queen. I took on g4 preparing that checkmate and hoping my opponent wont see it. It played out like that and after he took my Queen check mate was on the board.

Quite a big win for me. Like I said it was moral boost and.

This game was against @iamchessguy. I was already losing but manage to sneak the Queen on my opponents side. Here I was expecting to get draw somehow. But he did what I usually do. Blundered and walked into a checkmate.

He moved to the a7 which was checkmate in one move. I was surprised to get win like this. In the end good win by me and good game by @iamchessguy.

Over super round for me. 4th place is huge. Time mode was 5 + 0 so I berserk mode was on in all my games. Interesting part was my win rate of 64%.

@sam.chess @samostically it is good to play whole Satruday HiveChess Tournament and to have weekly tournament. Tnx for the organization.

Today started Fide Candidates 2026. For next three weeks 8 players compete to become challenger for a world champion Gukesh.
He are 8 players of open section and parings for round 1.

In woman section there is 8 players as well. World champion Ju Wenjun waits for her challenger.

A lot of chess in next 3 weeks.
