PhotoFeed Contest - Portrait Photography Round 130 ~ Peci Craftsman

Hello....

In the PhotoFeed Contest - Portrait Photography Round 130 organized by @photofeed, I tried to share a photo about the craftsmen of Acehnese peci or commonly called Acehnese kopiah. An old woman with a warm smile seemed diligently checking her work, a colorful Acehnese peci made with intricate details. Acehnese peci is known for its geometric motifs and bright color combinations, not just a head covering but a symbol of identity and cultural heritage of the Acehnese people. In the photo I shared, a row of peci is seen neatly arranged in front of her, showing the skills and precision passed down from generation to generation.

The process of making an Acehnese peci requires great patience, from designing the pattern and selecting the thread to assembling the motifs to create a harmonious look. Each strand of thread is meticulously embroidered, making each peci unique and highly artistic. This skill not only provides a source of income but also a way to keep traditions alive amidst the tide of modernization.

Craftsmen like him are the guardians of Aceh's cultural heritage. With skilled hands and hearts filled with love for tradition, they ensure that the Acehnese peci remains a source of regional pride, adorning the heads of men at traditional ceremonies, religious services, and important celebrations. Behind each stitch lies a story of struggle, dedication, and pride in ancestral identity.

That concludes my post for this time. I hope you enjoy it. Thank you.
