Re-Awakening My Home Garden || LOH #244

Having a garden at home has been one of the things I always enjoy. I remember back when I used to enjoy planting and how much I would care for the plants. Watering them, ensuring I feed them composts to help them grow faster, healthier and look very fresh.

It's always a thing of joy for me whenever I harvest these vegetables for my own enjoyment. Using them to make varieties of mouth-watering soups and veggie sauce. Hmmmm Yummy! 😋😋😋

But then, for some time I have neglected my garden and it's been filled with weeds, some of the vegetables have already died off and I have been procrastinating on when I should resume planting.

It was hard to find time to resume gardening as I am always stressed out from work. My weekends that I used to enjoy, were not even enough for any extracurriculars that I might have in mind. This continued for a while until my neighbour decided enough was enough 😀😀😀.

My neighbor, Mummy Ada, decided to take the bull by the horn. She has been buying vegetables from the market for sometime now and she confessed it's not always fresh . She remembers how much she enjoyed taking fresh vegetables from my garden when I used to take care of my garden. So, she knew she had to do something.

This time, my new garden started with her. First, she and I cleared out the weeds(I won't lie, it was mostly her 🙈🙈). It didn't take more than two days and when we were done, we made beds and in no time we started planting. We planted tomatoes, spinach, Pumpkin leaves (Ugu) and water leaves.

This water leaf story was very funny. We didn't plan to add it initially because I only bought the seeds for other vegetables. Since water leaves were commonly planted using their stems I told her we might be lucky and it would grow itself as a weed but she was not taking any chances.

We sought out on how to get water leaf stems that day.We walked around looking for where to buy some but couldn't find any. We had to go to the market to get some and then I threw the stems in my garden.

She knew what I needed was a start and she was so right. After helping me with the clearing and planting. I took care of the garden like a baby. I watered them regularly and added composts from time to time and they germinated well.

It has been raining on and off for some time now. The vegetables have been growing so well. Whenever I pass by my garden, I would smile. Seeing them grow beautifully each passing day makes me so happy. I am always grateful for my neighbor as It was her tenacity that helped me resume gardening.

Thank you all for reading.

That's a good strategy, sometimes I can use someone to share in the motivation and encouragement to work consistently as to achieve the desire results.

God bless that your neighbour because if she hadn't pushed for the garden to come back to life, then it would mean that the whole idea would be forgotten by you.

Lazy fine !lady 😂😂
