The Struggle of Being a Female Child #251

Hi exceptional Ladies, hope our day is going smoothly, you see looking back at my life there are some moments that always stand out to me as my proudest. Not because everything was easy for me but because in those times I stayed true to my belief and I didn’t allow the situation around me to define who I will become.

One of the biggest moment for me was when I finally graduated from school. In my family background it was not common for a female child to go far with education. Like the saying was always the same, either you learn a handwork or you prepare yourself for marriage Many people around me felt like school was a waste of time for girls and that we should just wait for a husband to come and pick us. But deep inside me I never agreed with that mindset or should i call it mentality i always believe that the female child can be successful just the same way as the male.

Although It was not easy because sometimes I was discouraged even by people close to me. There were days I almost give up, days I ask myself if it was really worth it. But I held on to my belief that education can change the story of my life,if not completely but i can stand out with from the crowd,So when the day came that I finished school not just anyhow but with a first class degree, I cannot explain the joy in my heart, It was like a big proof that my stubborn belief was not in vainI was proud of myself because I didn’t just dream it, I worked hard for it and I achieved it.

Another moment that also made me proud was when I went for service after graduation, you see Wearing that NYSC uniform felt like a badge of honor to me. It was more than just serving the country, it was a reminder that I broke a cycle in my family,I showed that a female child can stand tall and also achieve something people thought was impossible.

These moments are very close to my heart because they showed me the power of holding on to your belief even when everything around you is saying the opposite. If I had listened to people that said education is not for girls, maybe by now I would have been stuck in a life I didn’t choose. But today I thank God i can proudly say that I followed my heart and I made myself and even my family proud.

So anytime I look back I remind myself of this lesson, that when you stay true to what you believe, the world will one day see the result. And that is why I keep encouraging others especially young girls, that no matter what anybody says, your dream is valid and you can achieve it.Thanks for listening to my honest thought.

Motivating young people to believe that, despite what others may say, their dreams are valid and achievable is very valuable. As you say, when you remain true to your beliefs, the world will one day see the results,

First class degree and NYSC uniform, those are not just milestones, they are quiet rebellions against a story that said girls shouldn’t go that far. I can’t imagine how many mornings you doubted if it was worth it and yet you pushed anyway. That payoff? It is not just yours, you have renamed what is possible, for yourself and for every girl watching. That strength stays with people longer than any diploma.
