Sunday Field Trip: From Caves to Canopy to Closing

On Sunday, October 19, after five days of community, keynotes, and coordination, HiveFest winds down with a refreshing change of scenery — a field trip to explore the natural and cultural wonders just outside Kuala Lumpur.

🪷 First Stop: Batu Caves
Towering 43 meters above the landscape, the golden Lord Murugan statue guards the entrance to Malaysia’s most famous Hindu temple complex. The Batu Caves are carved into 400-million-year-old limestone cliffs, filled with ancient cave systems, ornate shrines, vibrant staircases, and mischievous macaques. It’s both a pilgrimage site and a natural wonder — a chance to connect with something bigger, deeper, and far older than any blockchain.

Optional Second Stop: Kanching Eco Forest Waterfall Reserve

For those who want to keep the nature vibes going, an optional forest detour is on the table: Just 30 minutes north of Kuala Lumpur lies one of Malaysia’s hidden gems: the lush, jungle-shrouded Kanching Eco Forest Park. Famous for its seven distinct waterfalls, the park offers a refreshing natural escape perfect for a half-day adventure during HiveFest week. From gentle cascades to thundering vertical drops, each waterfall unveils a different mood.

A scenic trail winds uphill through thick rainforest, connecting the various tiers, natural pools, and picnic spots, where locals and travelers alike unwind beneath the canopy. Whether you’re dipping into crystal-clear water, snapping jungle selfies, or catching your breath near a misty drop-off, Kanching is the kind of place where nature puts on a full show. Keep your lunch close though — the local monkeys are known to be bold.

Closing Dinner

After a chance to rest and freshen up post-excursion, HiveFest wraps with a farewell dinner at a warm and refined local restaurant, where traditional flavors meet modern comfort. The location stays under wraps for now — just know it’s the perfect spot to wind down, reflect, and toast to the week’s connections.

Closing Drinks (Until Late!)

And for those flying out late Sunday or early Monday: don’t disappear too soon. The bar will stay open into the night... come raise a final glass with fellow Hivers before KL slips back into the clouds beneath your plane. Location: For Those Who Know.

Still wonder who voted for this place!
I have nothing against the location, yet I still feel like it has nothing to do with the Hive people? Hive!, please prove me wrong.
There's a group of about 60-70 the most,...people that would and could go about anywhere, yet I still wonder who voted for this place! I have nothing against the place, actually I wish one day to visit, what I'm saying is that it has nothing to do with the real Hive!

I'm not sure what do you mean by place. If you're referring to this specific venue, I get not everyone likes excursions being bundled together with the conference that potentially makes the ticket more expensive than it needs to be. Other than that I have only heard good things about that place.

If you're referring to the city/country in general, the only reason I can think of is because I showed up at the previous HiveFest and my attendance influenced this year's location. Malaysia has one of the lowest crypto adoption in the region according to Chainanalysis and is lagging behind neighbouring countries due to uncompetitiveness in terms of regulation. However we have an active ASEAN community here and I'm very sure many in that community will attend the event this year.

It’s super duper cheap if you earn $1,000 an hour like most of us do here on Hive.

How do expect the average person to be able to go 🤔

Also I hope someone is going to be speaking about the bad downvoters on Hive 🤔

It seems like no one's likes to talk about that

One more thing this post is way over rewarded what you made on this post

It would take the average Hive user a long time to make it and loads of post's

I'll ask you do you think this post is over rewarded

I always read your posts with enthusiasm, because although your activities are far beyond my capabilities, they give me a better view of the hive world and how much there is left to learn, understand, and grow.

@roelandp, thanks for the organisation!

It is going to be amazing, that is for sure. Sadly, this year I won't be able to make it.

Wanted to hit you up yesterday in Amsterdam, but was caught in meetings.

MDAC reminder was a very good one... probably good to broadcast this 3 days before people fly too. At least for people to prepare. I was just checking yesterday and completely missed my pre-checking (when I bought the flights months ago).

Looks like a lot of stuff I haven't yet found out about. So, this is promising. Thanks for all the work mate.
