Advices for the new user on Hiveππππ
Hello @indiaunited,
This is my first post in the community and here is my response to the prompt:
What are the advices you will give to the new user on hive? Tell us what are those?
As a new Hivian, here is what I have learned so far.
I was excited (and a little nervous) before stepping into this amazing Hive space. I have only been here for about two months, but during this brief period, I have discovered that Hive is much more than just a blogging platform, it is a community, a movement. And like every community in the real world there is some learning to be done, and connections to be made.
To all newbies like myself, Here are a few tips and advice that I have gathered that might hopefully make your stay here more fun and easy!
π1.Properly Introduce Yourself;
Your first post should be a proper introduction, who you are, where you are from (if you are comfortable), goals, passions, dreams, and what brought you here. Hive loves originality, and honesty - Use #introduceyourself to connect with others who also love helping out new people.
π2. Connect Sincerely
Hive is not a "drop your link and leave" place, it depends on engagement which means, commenting intelligently on other people's posts, replying to those who comment on your post, upvoting stuffs you like, and re-blogging them as well. Hive is about relationships, not numbers.
π3. Use Appropriate Tags
Tags are like bridges, they help your posts reach their appropriate audience. Make sure to use the right ones based on your content. #writing, #food, #art, #photography only to mention a few. There are even community tags specific to different tribes like #shadowhunters, #freewriters, #indiaunited etcβ¦
π4. Join Communities You Have Interest In
There are communities for absolutely everything, food, travel, stories, needlework, spirituality, Nigeria, DIYHub, motherhood and much more. Find your group! Itβs easier to grow within a community of like-minded creators.
π5. Have Consistency, But Patience
You might not get upvotes right away, or attention, and that's ok. For Hive itβs about consistency and authenticity. Keep posting, keep connecting, your time will come.
π6. Do NOT Plagiarise, be Original
This is a big one! Hive has "zero tolerance" for plagiarized content, without proper credit. Be original! If you are going to use another person's work (text, photo, idea), then reference and link sources.
π7. Discover the Hive Ecosystem
Hive is not just a writing platform - it is also a blockchain with tokens like HIVE and HBD. While you are learning about the site, take a few minutes to learn about the wallets, Power Up, and how voting works. Remember that knowledge empowers.
π8. Ask Questions. People Will Help You!
You are not alone. If something does not make sense, ask. Leave comments, join Hive discord servers, or message someone. You will find that many seasoned users love to help beginners.
Then have fun. Hive is a place to create, learn, earn and make new friends. Just show up and be you and let your light shine!
