Moments That Defined Me | LOH #251
When I look back over my life I realize that the moments I am proud of are the small things, because I didn’t do anything big in the eyes of the world. But I believe that I stayed true to who I am in real. Also, I think that the things I did are not for any headlines on newspaper. To be honest these are the moments that quietly shaped me and made me who I am today.
One of the things that I often did was to help someone without expecting anything in return. One year ago a friend of mine was struggling, he was facing financial crisis. He has two children and a wife, they are suffering a lot because of his loss in business. The landlord also misbehaved with them because they could not pay the rent. I am also going through bad phase but not as much as them, at least I am doing okay with my livelihood. I wanted to help him because something inside me told me to step in, guide them through it and that's what I do for my own people or even if it is someone I know. I payed his rent of 2 months and he was very thankful. Later, I saw he is in relief and has gratitude towards me, I realized how meaningful it is to offer support when you can. Also, even if you don't expect to get something in return. It is a beautiful feeling which can not be explained. Well, it wasn’t about recognition it was just about doing the right thing.
Another moment that I recall which is from my school life/versity life I always took stand for something that I believed in. I remember a time when a classmate of mine was being unfairly treated. That time speaking up meant they would go after comfort and inviting new enemies in my life. But I couldn’t tolerate it anymore, I recall that I was feeling nervous, but still I knew that staying silent would have gone against my ethics. With that small act of courage I ended up complaining against them and I am proud of it. Because my classmate got justice and I felt relived.
I also let go of people or situations that didn’t align with my values and that was a proud moment too. Even though it was painful. But staying true to myself in those moments has totally changed my life.
I believe that pride doesn’t come through achievements, but from the situations you acted on because of your beliefs. Like it's about knowing that you have done the right thing, even when it wasn’t noticed. These experiences has made me what I am today. For that reason I always prefer to chose the right path over the convenient one.

Thank you.
You didn't climb mountains but those quiet moments paying rent for a friend barely staying afloat, speaking up in class even when it scared you, those are the kind of choices that actually build your character. Letting go of people or situations that didn’t align with your values even when it hurt? That is courage. These aren’t headlines but they are the episodes that quietly shape us. And yes choosing the right path over the easy one, time and again, that is what solidifies who we truly are.
