Today, I want to express my feelings about if I had won the chance for a scholarship to study, then without any second thought I would take this opportunity. Because I had to stop my studies at the age of 24, and I have regretted for not being able to fully explore my academic potential.

This scholarship will give a chance to my passion for learning. If I really get this kind of opportunity, then I would definitely choose to study English, because my goal is to be an English literature scholar.

English has fascinated me all of the time as it's not only a language to understand the people but also the way to understand their culture, ideas and emotions. My interest in English started long ago before even I started to study, when I was a kid my father used to say some phrases in English, I used to be curious what it meant and I heard him using few English words alongside Bengali. This situation my father created was very intriguing and I wanted to learn how to speak fluently in English. Before I had the chance to study it formally, I got obsessed with it.

In the beginning I would spend hours reading English books and articles or it could be poems by English writers, whenever I could not understand a word or sentence I would ask my father to translate it and make me understand the meaning of it. I have always appreciated the their beauty.

This scholarship would give me the structured education and I believe this is going to make my language skills and literary knowledge more improved. I want to learn how the writers convey emotions in English and build different narratives.

Also, if I can show a certificate of mine about studying in English then I think many countless doors of opportunities will open for me. English is an international language and it is the most spoken language all around the world. It has become a tool for communication and cultural exchange. I can travel to any country if I just know English.

The most importantly this scholarship is going to help me overcome the barrier of age like it's not going to make me feel shameful as I believe there's no age for learning anyone can start educating themselves at any age. In Bangladesh there are many people who can not overcome the barrier of age and it often discourages adults from returning to education.

The society makes them feel that they are “too old” to study. But this opportunity for me would prove that learning has no age limit. This is going to boost my confidence and give me some motivation.

I believe when people will see me studying English they would get inspired by my action. People would no longer be discouraged to continue their studies after failure. That no matter what is the age or circumstances education is free for all and it is a good way to leave a positive impact on society.
