Qurator's Mischievous Mondays | The Strangest Thing in My House

Welcome to Qurator's Mischievous Mondays!

This will be a weekly competition that we will be hosting every Monday. We want to see a little more engagement and fun when it comes to some of our competitions so this will be a simpler and shorter competition. Easy to enter, but maybe not so easy to win. ;) This competition will be similar to the Monday Missions we had a long time ago, but instead of writing posts to enter we will now consider only the comments and answers on this blog as your entry to win.

Why Mischievous?

We all could use a little fun in our lives. We would even say that we deserve it, let loose a little and have a go at making everyone laugh or think a little, even if it is a little over the top or pure silliness. Go all out and let your creative juices flow.

The Strangest Thing in My House

We all have that one weird object at home. Maybe it’s a creepy doll, a spoon shaped like a giraffe, or something you can’t even explain. This week, show us or tell us about the strangest thing in your house. Funny, spooky, mysterious, or just plain odd. The stranger, the better!

The strangest thing in my house? Easy, that chair. You know the one. The chair that nobody actually sits on. The chair that has retired from its original job and is now living its best life as a wardrobe, storage unit, and sometimes even a dining table.

It holds clothes (clean and dirty), handbags, wigs, maybe even a Bible from last week’s service. Guests see it and ask, Oh, is someone sitting there?’ No. Nobody is ever sitting there. That chair has one mission: to collect things we are too tired to put in their proper place.

At this point, I feel like the chair and I have an unspoken agreement, it won’t judge my laziness, and I won’t judge its new career path. Truly, it’s the MVP of the house.

The strangest thing in my house is this "handmade" fan, made of welded metal pieces. It's loud, ugly, and weighs as much as a bad marriage, but in its 36 years (it was made when I was born) it has been a real workhorse; unless you throw it from a tenth-floor window, it's almost impossible to break.

The electric motor is disproportionately large for a fan; according to my father, it comes from a Soviet washing machine's dryer. The blade is a sheet of iron, cut and shaped as needed. The rest of the parts are whatever was on hand at the time, meaning recycled material.

Next to more modern fans, it looks like what it is: an awkwardly ugly relic, but it has outlasted all the modern fans in the house, and everything seems to indicate it will maintain that unbeaten streak.

It's ugly, but if it does the job of blowing air, it's fine. If it's striking that they put it together and it has that unaesthetic look, it's kind of like a Frankenstein of fans. I've never met anyone who has done it, so it's very original. Cheers.

Thank you so much @qurator! I never thought I could win something with the picture of a wall I accidentally broke 😅 Congratulations to the winners 🎉 Good luck to everyone participating this week.

It’s a piggy bank 🏦 in the calendar shape… when my hubby brought it for my son … I was amazed to see this …

The Strangest Thing in My House. I remember having a very strange doll when I was a child. It was big, had long hair, and was a real eye-catcher. I named it Obriyeli. I played with it until it started moving. One day, while playing with my cousin, I left it on the bed face up. We turned our backs to it, and when we turned over, it was facing sideways. The strangest thing was that its neck wasn't loose, which meant you had to turn its face manually; there was no other way to get it to turn. One night, my dog came into my room, and when she saw it, she barked at it and ran out of the room.
