Welcome to Qurator's Mischievous Mondays!

This will be a weekly competition that we will be hosting every Monday. We want to see a little more engagement and fun when it comes to some of our competitions so this will be a simpler and shorter competition. Easy to enter, but maybe not so easy to win. ;) This competition will be similar to the Monday Missions we had a long time ago, but instead of writing posts to enter we will now consider only the comments and answers on this blog as your entry to win.

Why Mischievous?

We all could use a little fun in our lives. We would even say that we deserve it, let loose a little and have a go at making everyone laugh or think a little, even if it is a little over the top or pure silliness. Go all out and let your creative juices flow.

I don't agree with the topic, a gift is a gift and we should accept it out of faith. But since I am participating in the writing, I will assume one of my real life experience. I wanted a date from a girl so bad, but I got a Christmas present from her was a set of puzzle. I don't really don't want the puzzle, but I wanted her to be my girlfriend more than anything at that time 😂

A sad truth is, later date I gave the gift to a friend and she found out the puzzle was at the friend's place. It was so embarrassing and we almost remained unfriend.

The gift I once received that I never thought someone would give me was a pair of green candles. I never thought they would give me that gift. It was an exchange of Christmas gifts at a meeting of health personnel at the hospital where I worked in my youth. Luckily, I got a lady who was a cleaning worker. When she gave me the gift, I took it with great affection. When I opened it, I realized that they were ordinary candles to be used at Christmas. I didn't feel offended; on the contrary, I thanked him again. I imagine that was the little she could give, because of her condition as a humble woman.
I didn't like the gift at all, but the feeling that whoever gave it gave it because they had nothing else to give, this made me understand that I didn't need gifts, because I could buy what I liked, but that lady had nothing else to give, and I was grateful.

The Gift I Never Wanted but Got Anyway

Huh, it was a paperweight that says 'God loves you' (see my profile pic). Lol. I never appreciated religious things prior to Lent 2023 even if I'm a cradle Catholic. I even received an angel figurine too and I was like, why? Suffice it to say, I was just a nominal Christian at the time or what people call a lukewarm then eventually a cold Catholic. This was why when I saw the gift I was like, what am I to do with such a thing? I didn't have any use for it. I thought it was just a useless gift. 😂 Fortunately somehow I never got to give it away as gift too.

Life went on of course. More than a decade ago I offered my suffering to God (Matthew 11:28-30) when I went to mass. To my surprise the heavy emotional and mental burden lightened as if my problem then never happened!!! 😱 I didn't even notice it until I did! I finally felt God's love for me which I never really did before. That was when I suddenly appreciated the paperweight when I saw it again. I even thanked God for the person who gave it to me (I don't remember anymore).

I took a pic of it and put it in my social media accts since that moment. However what I didn't know then was God also needed my repentance. I mean not that He needs it but I had to repent too but sadly I never did at the time. Nobody was around to tell me about it even if I was going to mass on Sundays and sometimes skipped. Perhaps because I had so many mortal sins I was too blind and deaf to anything the priests said. Needless to say I eventually went back to my sinful ways.

Fast forward to Lent 2023 that's when I finally did a general confession and became a Renewed Catholic. Then eventually a practicing one. Of course now as you can see I have already been using the profile pic of the paperweight proudly. 😆 Glory to God in the highest! Thank You Lord!
