Hey Draw a Day community

It took a while for me to write this post sorry for that here are the winners of our latest contest, Sketch Quest. Thank you to all of you creative members who shared your amazing work. It was so inspiring to see the different stories and scenes you captured.

I had a good time looking at all these entries and it was not easy choosing the winners. It was fun judging the entries, and here's a breakdown of how each one stacked up against our criteria:

Grand Winner: Bubble View by @steempampanga

This entry stands out for its creativity and powerful story.

Creativity (40%): The concept of comparing an office worker's life to a goldfish's bowl is clever and interesting. The sketch is a one panel comic that tells a deep story without a single word. That is quite powerful for me.

Inspiration Story (30%): It is philosophical, and personal and enjoyed learning from it. The artist clearly explains the "bubble" idea. This makes the art resonate on a much deeper level and I think it was a well developed concept.

Effort (30%): The clean line work, the expressions on the faces of both the man and the goldfish, and the overall composition show a high level of skill and effort.

We only have four entries for this round of the contest and after choosing the grand winner I thought I would give everyone a prize so to continue,

2nd Place: @tinster's Wild Goose Chase

This one is imaginative and has a great story behind it.

Creativity (40%): Sketching a memory from a social media feed is a cool and very modern take on the "sketch from your surroundings" theme. The fairytale like design of the girl with the goose hat and her mid-air pose is very cute and original.

Inspiration Story (30%): The story is relatable and honest, describing the frustration of trying to find a lost IG story which is directly tied to the wild goose chase theme of the art, that is very clever.

Effort (30%): The effort is evident in the dynamic pose and thoughtful details, like the flowers filling a void and the change from a handbag to a backpack. The artist's focus on capturing the motion and angles from memory shows passion and skill.

Honorable Mention: @jadung's Karate Cat Fight

image.png

This entry is funny, chaotic, and very creative.

Creativity (40%): Taking "chaotic cat videos" as inspiration and turning them into a stylized, imaginative "karate" scene is a great, unique idea. I love the expressions on the scattering mouse and snail.

Inspiration Story (30%): The caption clearly states the inspiration and the intention behind the sketch which is to show the chaotic mess cats get involved in.

Effort (30%): The style is intentionally loose and playful, which I really appreciate. The effort is shown in the lively poses of the cats and the little details that create a sense of action and a narrative.

Honorable Mention: @theithei's Throwback

image.png

This sketch is a solid entry that captures a specific, relatable moment in time.

Creativity (40%): The idea of capturing a specific aesthetic like the early 2000s is a creative choice that many people can connect with.

Inspiration Story (30%): The caption clearly explains the inspiration and the specific details of the outfit that triggered the memory. It does a good job of telling the story behind the simple sketch.

Effort (30%): The sketch's simple lines and colors effectively convey the scene and the laid back vibe of the era. It's a clean sketch that shows a focused effort on the subject.

I can't seem to find the option to obtain HSBI for the prizes, has something changed? let me know. If there is no longer an option for sponsoring HSBI shares I will send HIVE tokens instead but will wait first if I can find a work around.

Greetings,
I found this deep appreciation for art and story inspiring. How do you find the judging process?

it is quite challenging to judge especially because the participants are mostly from our small community I do not want to be biased so I just focus on three criteria
