¡Hola, chicas! Me encantó el tema de esta iniciativa propuesto por @irenenavarroart y quiero aportar mi granito de arena.
La pregunta con la que me sentí identificada es:
Has ganado el dinero para comprar una casa y tienes dos opciones. La primera es una casa grande y bonita, pero cuyos mejores años ya han pasado. Necesita muchas reparaciones y reformas, por lo que su precio es bajo. La segunda opción es una casa pequeña. No es tan bonita como la anterior, pero no tienes que invertir tiempo ni dinero en reparaciones, por lo que su precio es mucho más alto que el de la anterior. ¿Qué eliges? ¿Estás en el equipo de «reparar a mi gusto» o en el de «comprar todo listo y rápido»?

The question I identified with is:
You've earned the money to buy a house, and you have two options. The first is a big, beautiful house, but one whose best years are behind it. It needs a lot of repairs and remodeling, and therefore its price is low. The second option is a small house. It's not as beautiful as the previous one, but you don't have to invest time or money in repairs so its price is much higher than the previous one. What do you choose? Are you on the "repair to my liking" team or the "buy everything ready and fast" team?
Definitivamente, me quedo con la segunda opción: la casa pequeña. Pertenezco al equipo de “comprar todo listo” y mi decisión se basa en que amo la practicidad y la tranquilidad. Si bien la primera opción, la casa grande que hace tiempo no se le ha hecho mantenimiento, puede parecer atractiva por su bajo costo, lo cierto es que el precio no es lo único que yo tomaría en cuenta. Un precio bajo puede ser una bandera roja de que habrá que invertir mucho tiempo, esfuerzo y, sobre todo, más dinero en el futuro.
Si soy honesta, no veo la casa grande como una oportunidad, sino como un dolor de cabeza. Me imagino los fines de semana enteros dedicados a arreglar tuberías o si tiene problemas de humedad o goteras que no se detectan a simple vista, por lo que ese presupuesto, al inicio, no se mantendría igual, sino que se duplicaría en un abrir y cerrar de ojos. No, gracias.
I definitely prefer the second option: the small house. I belong to the “buy everything ready-made” team, and my decision is based on my love of practicality and peace of mind. While the first option, the large house that hasn't been maintained in a long time, may seem attractive because of its low cost, the truth is that price isn't the only thing I would take into account. A low price can be a red flag that you will have to invest a lot of time, effort, and, above all, more money in the future.
To be honest, I don't see the big house as an opportunity, but as a headache. I imagine entire weekends spent fixing pipes or dealing with moisture or leaks that aren't visible to the naked eye, so that initial budget wouldn't stay the same, but would double in the blink of an eye. No, thank you.
Claro, la casa pequeña es más cara. Pero pienso en lo que estoy pagando: paz mental. No tengo que preocuparme por arreglos, lo que para mí no tiene precio. Es la opción más sensata desde mi punto de vista. Por supuesto, admiro a todo aquel que le guste el tema de las remodelaciones, los arreglos. Mi hermana es una de ellas. Yo la admiro porque logra maravillas en espacios que estaban feos.
Siempre veo en TV, un programa que se llama "Vívala o véndala" y la verdad que el tema de remodelaciones, me desespera. Siempre elijo la opción de cambiar de casa, porque tendría que buscar electricistas, plomeros, albañiles y quién sabe cuántos servicios más; eso significa vivir rodeada de polvo y ruido por quién sabe cuánto tiempo, a menos que tenga otro espacio donde quedarme mientras tanto, aunque de igual manera, tendría que estar metida en la obra "de pata y cabeza". No, eso no es lo mío.
Sure, the small house is more expensive. But I think about what I'm paying for: peace of mind. I don't have to worry about repairs, which is priceless to me. It's the most sensible option from my point of view. Of course, I admire anyone who likes remodeling and repairs. My sister is one of them. I admire her because she works wonders in spaces that were ugly.
I always watch a TV show called “Love it or List it,” and honestly, the topic of renovations drives me crazy. I always choose to move house because I would have to find electricians, plumbers, builders, and who knows how many other services. That means living surrounded by dust and noise for who knows how long, unless I have another place to stay in the meantime, although even then, I would have to be involved in the work “head and shoulders.” No, that's not my thing.
Esta opción me estaría alejando de mi meta, que es tener un hogar listo para disfrutar y no una carga de la que preocuparme. Prefiero evitar todo ese caos y esa incertidumbre que tienen las renovaciones, sobre todo después de haberme ganado un dinero que supuestamente me brindaría paz.
La casa pequeña, por otro lado, representa para mí, lo práctico, el disfrute, la calma. Al estar lista para habitar, me permite disfrutarla de inmediato. Podría mudarme con mi hijo y empezar a crear recuerdos en cada rincón de mi nuevo hogar, imprimiéndole mi sello personal, sin tener que esperar o gastar dinero en reparaciones y renovaciones.
This option would take me further away from my goal, which is to have a home ready to enjoy and not a burden to worry about. I prefer to avoid all the chaos and uncertainty that renovations bring, especially after earning money that was supposed to bring me peace.
The small house, on the other hand, represents practicality, enjoyment, and calm for me. Being ready to move in, it allows me to enjoy it immediately. I could move in with my son and start creating memories in every corner of my new home, putting my personal stamp on it, without having to wait or spend money on repairs and renovations.
Creo en ese refrán que dice "lo barato, sale caro", así que ok, el costo de la casa pequeña es más alto, pero creo que, en realidad, es una inversión en mi calidad de vida. Estoy pagando el precio que vale la comodidad, la estabilidad y por la seguridad de que no me voy a encontrar con sorpresas desagradables ni gastos imprevistos.
Además, una casa más pequeña es mucho más fácil de limpiar y de mantener, lo que significa que quedará limpia en un dos por tres.
Y aunque la casa grande podría quedar perfecta después de muchas reformas, la casa pequeña ya es perfecta para mí, porque cumple con mis necesidades sin exigirme más de lo que estoy dispuesta a dar. En resumen, elijo la paz mental, la comodidad y la inmediatez por encima el potencial y el riesgo.
I believe in the saying, “cheap is expensive,” so okay, the cost of the small house is higher, but I think that, in reality, it's an investment in my life quality. I'm paying the price for comfort, stability, and the security of knowing that I won't encounter any unpleasant surprises or unexpected expenses.
Plus, a smaller house is much easier to clean and maintain, which means it will be clean in no time.
And while the big house could be perfect after a lot of renovations, the small house is already perfect for me because it meets my needs without demanding more than I'm willing to give. In short, I choose peace of mind, comfort, and immediacy over potential and risk.

Hola mi bella....bueno y quizas estare en los dos grupos jajajaja, porque asi sea la casa pequeña como es la mia, pero siempre hay que hacerle algo o quizas luego adentro de ella con el tiempo pasan cosas las cuales hay que reparar, mas que remodelar, el año pasado yo repare y remodele y me falta ja ja, pero todo a su tiempo que a medida vaya llegando la fuerza monetaria lo hare...
Pero eso si grande o pequeña nada como tener lo propio.
Totalmente de acuerdo, pero elijo la casita que solo sea mudarme y ya y no tener que reparar ni remodelar absolutamente nada, al menos por un buen tiempo :)
