A veces vamos tan a mil que se nos olvida que el cariño no se puede apurar. Escribir a mano tiene algo especial; te obliga a parar, a pensar qué quieres decir y a sentir el bolígrafo contra el papel. Ver los sobres ahí en esa alfombra me hizo pensar en eso. En que las palabras más importantes no siempre hay que decirlas de frente. A veces es mejor dejarlas ahí, esperando a que alguien las encuentre por sorpresa. No hace falta que sea San Valentín o una fecha especial, porque al final se quiere todos los días del año. Es el simple detalle de convertir un papel en una sorpresa para alguien que quieres.
Me gusta mucho eso de que los mensajes no te los den en la mano, sino que te los encuentres. Ver un sobre con un corazón dibujado es como si la casa te diera un abrazo cuando llegas cansado. Me imaginé entrando por la puerta después de un día de trabajo agotador y econtrarme con una escena similar. Me sacó una sonrisa porque mi papá hacía lo mismo. Cuando cumplíamos años nos dejaba notas por todos los rincones de la casa, como si fuera una búsqueda del tesoro.
Ahora todo es digital y se borra rápido, pero el papel aguanta. Se queda ahí esperando a que lo recojas y lo metas en esa caja especial de los recuerdos. Esa donde guardas de todo: el ticket del concierto, la entrada al cine o la servilleta de aquel día que fuiste a comer helado con alguien que te ponía el corazón a mil por hora.
Cada sobre es un momento de alegría. Uno puede ser un gracias, otro un chiste de esos que solo entendemos nosotros, y el del corazón azul quizá una invitación a ver películas. Al final no importa si la letra es perfecta o el papel es caro. Lo que cuenta es que te agachas, lo recoges y sientes que alguien se tomó el tiempo de pensar en ti. Lo dejó ahí, en tu camino, para recordarte que son estos detalles los que de verdad le dan vida a un hogar.

I imagined walking through the door after an exhausting day at work and finding a similar scene. It made me smile because my dad used to do the same. When it was our birthday, he would leave notes in every corner of the house, as if it were a treasure hunt.
Nowadays everything is digital and gets deleted quickly, but paper lasts. It stays there waiting for you to pick it up and put it in that special memory box. The one where you keep everything: the concert ticket, the movie stub, or even the napkin from that day you went for ice cream with someone who made your heart beat at a thousand miles per hour.
