“How I Carried Education Like Gele and Missed Handiwork Money”
Hi my #ladiesofhive and welcome to my page this week, am so happy to participate in this week's contest 265 if I could get a second chance.
Am still your one and only @preshy007.
Relax and read my story

If I could get a second chance at anything, I think it would be the moment I confidently chose higher education over learning a handiwork. Back then, I carried my school ambition on my head like gele ,tall, tight, and blocking my sense of direction 🤣. Everyone kept saying, “Go to school, it’s the key to success.” Nobody told me the key might open one small door while some people are out here unlocking mansions with hairdressing, baking, and makeup kits. Even the ones that tried to talk me out of going to school, I saw them as people that don't love me🤷
I still remember how serious I was, carrying textbooks like they were bags of gold. If someone had told me that same time that one lady learning wig-making would be earning in a month what I was praying to see in a whole semester… honestly, I would have fainted dramatically.
As years passed, reality started tapping my shoulder gently at first, then later with two hands like, “My dear, skill pays oo!” I would see people my age or even younger ,turning tailoring into a full-blown empire, making beautiful hairstyles, doing nails for people and collecting money with confidence. Meanwhile, I was there with certificates that was looking at me like, “So… what next?”
Sometimes, in my mind, I imagine the version of myself that learned a handiwork early. I picture her with customers lining up, money flowing like pure water, confidence shining like highlighter. That lady is bold, She is busy, She is booked. And she is not waiting for any HR email to validate her life. Thinking about her sometimes makes me want to sit down quietly and re-evaluate my entire life.
But here is the funny twist: life didn’t give me the second chance to go back, but it gave me brain to rethink. I realized something "you can always start again". I might not have learned a skill then, but I have chosen to learn one now. Nobody will beat me. In fact, you will be surprised to know how many “late beginners” end up shining the most.

So yes, if I’m being honest, I wish I had chosen handiwork first. But since life didn’t rewind, i just gently press the “restart” button from where I am. New day, new chance, new skill. Because sometimes, your second chance doesn’t come from the past, it comes from your decision today.

And this time, I am choosing with both my heart and my sense.👌👌👌
If you could get a second chance at anything, what will it be? Am waiting to read your sweet story too
Thank you for patiently reading through.

School may be a default direction for most but not for everyone. My academics were poor anyway. Through volunteer work I discovered my passion in Nursing care resulting in 25 years of satisfying and fulfilling service. It makes me glad to see others are lead by what is in their heart, God given talent, and passions. Confucius once said, "Find a job you love and never work a day in your life."
