Gaming Photography Challenge: Wallpaper Worth Shots!

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

This Week's Contest theme by the Gaming Photography Community is Wallpaper Worth Pictures, and I have a lot to share on this topic. I have been using screenshots of my games as my wallpapers for a long time. Most of them come from the Hollow Knight game. I need to update my wallpaper folder with shots from the new Silksong game as well. I will share some shots from Silksong which are worthy of being wallpapers for the fans of this franchise.

This game has a lot of beautiful, handcrafted levels. Each area seems to be well-detailed and filled with both foreground and background objects, giving it a distinct feel and atmosphere.

There are some major spoilers, so be warned. The next shot is from the final boss fight, just after the last cutscene from Act 3. I love this whole interaction.

If we rewind a bit, Hornet jumped into the fight with such determination and one of the coolest cutscenes as the final fight was about to start. I love this shot as she was kept alive by the magical powers of the white flower given by the White Lady.

I have shared this next shot before as well. But if I trim the black borders further, it would be a good fit as wallpaper. (Baby Hornet is the cutest thing in the game)

I have some more shots from the games that I would love to share here. Hornet's movement abilities and interactions with the game environment are much more polished.

I will end it with a shot of Hornet challenging the Grandmother Silk, one of the endings of the game.

Let's switch to another game now. Horizon Zero Dawn has a beautiful open world full of amazing machines and spectacular landscapes. I want to share some of that with you. I have used a couple of shots from this game as my wallpaper before.

How about a very foggy morning in Mother's Cradle settlement?

Or the protagonist, Aloy, standing firm in the middle of a flower valley? This picture depicts the nature of the game well. It has an amazing photo mode, but I don't use it much nowadays; disabling all the HUD items is much more fun.

The next game, which I think is very underrated in terms of gaming photography, is Minecraft. On the surface, it may look like an ugly game with very blocky textures, but to those who play it, they know it has its own beauty. With a few extra visual mods or shaders, you can even enhance the looks.

Our first world from a few months ago looks good with the complementary reimagined shader pack.

This next shot is from the latest world of Minecraft. I loved how we have new skins of mobs and much more variety of armour, tools, biomes and a lot more. And they keep adding new stuff to the game, making it always fresh.

I will end this post with a peaceful-looking shot of a Minecraft village. Let me know what your favourite games are to take shots from, and what your favourite shot is in this post.

Thanks for reading.

Until next shot...

  • Screenshots are from the game, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered and Minecraft.

Hollow Knight and Silksong both have such artistic visuals, it looks really good. Loved the Horizon and Minecraft additions too, there's many varieties in just one post.
