A delicious and nutritious fish recipe made with village flavors.
Wishing a wonderful day to all my dear friends!
Today, I set out to prepare a delicious fish dish filled with the fragrance of the village and the taste of tradition. There's something truly special about the flavors of village-style cooking—simple, wholesome, and deeply satisfying. Today, we're bringing those rustic tastes into our kitchen with a flavorful and nutritious fish recipe inspired by traditional Sri Lankan village cuisine. Using fresh ingredients like coconut milk, local spices, and tender fish, this dish captures the genuine essence of home-cooked meals from rural areas. This isn't just food—it's a journey back to our roots .So let’s take a look at how to prepare it, step by step.
Materials Used.
Tuna fish 300g.
An onion cut into a round shape.
2 chopped fish chili peppers.
2 green chilies, cut lengthwise.
curry leaves..
1 Pandan leaves.
2 cinnamon sticks.
2 crushed cardamom pods.
4 teaspoon of Coconut vinegar.
Salt to tasty.
1 Teaspoon of turmeric powder.
1 Teaspoon of Pepper powder
1 Teaspoon of turmeric powder.
1 Tablespoon of coconut oil.
Coconut milk 300ml.
A little crushed ginger garlic paste.
The cooking process as follows.
First, take an earthenware pot and add the cleaned fish pieces into it. To that, add pandan leaves (rampe), curry leaves, and a paste made from garlic and ginger. Then, mix in turmeric powder, black pepper powder, salt to taste, and a splash of vinegar.
Gently mix everything together, making sure the fish pieces are well coated with the spices and seasonings.
Next, place a pan on the stove and add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. Once the oil is heated, quickly add crushed dried chili, a pinch of salt, and fresh green chilies. Sauté for a few seconds until fragrant, then remove from heat and set aside.
Now place the prepared fish pieces on the stove, add about 1/2 cup of water, and cook for approximately 5 minutes to allow the flavors to blend and the fish to soften slightly.
Finally, add coconut milk, curry leaves, the sautéed onions, fried dry fish chilies, and raw green chilies to the pan.
Cook until the coconut milk thickens slightly, then remove from the heat.
So, this village-style fish curry is not only rich in flavor but also packed with nutrition. It’s perfect when served with a warm plate of rice and a few fresh side dishes. Whether it reminds you of home or you're discovering these comforting tastes for the first time, this dish is sure to bring warmth to your table. Until we meet again with another heartfelt recipe, stay healthy and cook with love! Wishing you a wonderful day.
