Hello bird lovers
This tiny bird, which we call a "Cucarachero" in my country, has a loud and beautiful song. I had tried to photograph it several times, but the photos didn't turn out well because it was either out of range of my phone's camera and came out blurry, or when I tried to get closer, it flew away, and of course, it flies faster than my eyes and my hand.
This morning, like every day I am in the city of Maracay, I took my dog Isis for a walk and heard it singing while perched on the swing set in the park. I said to myself, “I'm going to try,” but it was inside the park and I was outside. I took several photos through the fence, but they didn't turn out very well.
But just when I was about to give up, it flew out of the park and stood on the fence to sing. It was distracted, or so I thought. I got closer and was able to take these pictures that I am showing you, until I saw it fly toward the trees.
The "Cucarachero" was singing, perhaps calling to its mate.

The wren has a very peculiar scientific name: Troglodytes musculus. I wondered why it had this Latin name, which is the language in which all scientific names are written.
It didn't seem to fit its small and fragile appearance because I associated it with muscles and strength. But that wasn't the reason.
Troglodytes means cave dweller and refers to their behavior, specifically their habit of burrowing into caves and crevices where they build their nests and find the insects they feed on.
Mus means “mouse” and culus means “small,” so the word musculus can be translated as “little mouse.” I imagine this is because of its rounded shape and the color of its feathers.
I have seen it searching for food and also drinking the water that accumulates inside the pipes in the park.

Hola amigos amantes de las aves
Este pajarito tan pequeño que en mi país llamamos Cucarachero, tiene un canto fuerte y hermoso, lo había tratado de fotografiar en varias oportunidades pero las fotografías no me habían quedado nada bién, porque o bien estaba fuera del alcance de la cámara de mi teléfono y salían poco nítidas o cuando trataba de acercarme salía volando y por supuesto su vuelo es más rápido que mi vista y mi mano.
Esta mañana como todos los días que estoy en la ciudad de Maracay baje a mi perra Isis y lo escuché cantando parado sobre el tubo del columpio del parque. Y me dije voy a intentarlo, pero el estaba adentro y yo fuera del parque. Tome varias fotografías a través de la reja pero no quedaron muy buenas.
Pero cuando ya casi me daba por vencida voló fuera del parque y se paró en la reja a cantar. Estaba distraído, bueno eso pensé yo. Me fui acercando y pude tomar estas fotografías que les muestro, hasta que lo vi volar hacia los árboles.
El cucarachero tiene un nombre científico muy particular Troglodytes musculus. Me pregunte el por que de este nombre en latín, que es el idioma en el cual se escriben todos los nombres científicos.
No me parecía muy acorde a su pequeño y frágil aspecto porque lo asociaba a músculos y fuerza. Pero no era esa la razón.
Troglodytes significa cavernícola y tiene que ver con su comportamiento, se refiere a su costumbre de meterse en cuevas y fisuras donde hace sus nidos y donde también encuentra los insectos de los cuales se alimenta.
<Mus significa “ratón” y culus significa “pequeño”, por lo cual la palabra musculus puede traducirse como pequeño ratón. Me imagino que por su forma redondeada y el color de sus plumas.
Lo he visto buscar alimento y también tomar el agua que se acumula dentro de los tubos del parque.
