After a while without being able to take bird photos, I’m really happy to be able to participate in @nelinoeva’s invitation to #SMaP Show Me A Photo Round #268, with a Free theme.

Despues de un tiempo sin poder tomar fotografias de aves, ayer sali a los alrededores de la residencia donde vivo en la ciudad de Maracay y me encontre con este par de garzas buscando comida entre los árboles y cerca del depósito de la basura.

Yesterday I went out to the area around where I live in the city of Maracay and came across this pair of herons searching for food among the trees and near the trash dump.

One of them was the Black Ibis, which is very common in this area—I’ve seen them in groups—and the other was a White Egret (Ardea ibis), also known as the Cattle Egret because it feeds on external parasites.

This little egret is less common here, and I’ve usually seen it alone or with a group of Black Ibises.

Esta garcita es menos frecuente aquí y generalmente la he visto sola o con el grupo de Ibis negro.

While they were searching the pavement for food—likely insects, which are their main diet—I took the opportunity to snap these photos. It’s a very beautiful heron with that crest of golden feathers on its head.

Mientras buscaban en el pavimento algun alimento, posiblemente insectos que es su alimentación principal, aproveché de tomarle estas fotografias. Es una garza muy linda con plumas de color beige en su cabeza y en las alas.

These two birds stayed together the whole time, and when they grew annoyed by my constant approach, they flew over to a doorway, waiting for me to leave so they could continue with their routine.

Estas dos aves se mantuvieron juntas todo el tiempo y cuando se fastidiaron por mi continuo acercamiento volaron hasta una puerta, esperando que me fuera para continuar en su rutina.
