Vibes Web3 Music Competition Week #36 Review

If you're new to Hive, the Vibes Web3 Music Competition is a bi-weekly contest that runs here on the Hive blockchain, specifically in the Vibes community. It welcomes artists from all over the world. Whether you have an amazing voice, play instruments, or are a music producer/mixer, this competition is for you.

Hello Hivers and friends! Welcome to my review of the just-concluded Vibes Web3 Music Competition – Week #36.

There was no fixed theme for this edition, so everyone had the freedom to present their favorite songs and stand a chance of making it onto the winners' list. The competition concluded a few days ago, and a new contest began on the 5th and will end on the 17th of July.

While listening to most of the entries, I noticed how relaxed and expressive many of the artists were. There was noticeably less tension and more emotionally rich performances compared to Week 35. I attribute this to the open-theme format, which gave everyone the freedom to showcase what they believe is their most suitable song.

However, in some entries, it was clear that a few participants struggled to choose a song. You know that feeling when you have so many songs in your head and you’re torn about which one your audience will love, probably the one that might earn you a spot on the winners' list.

All in all, it was an amazing experience listening to the wide range of genres, emotions, messages, and performances that were submitted.

The Winner's List
One thing about a competition is that many outstanding entries will check all the boxes for excellence, yet only a few can emerge as winners. For this edition, six winners were chosen based on a combination of community votes and the judges' scores.

Here are the winners in descending order:

  1. @noah45 - Entry

  2. @ellacentric - Entry

  3. @eliezerboyer - Entry

  4. @thonykx01- Entry

  5. @oripenalver - Entry

  6. @obaro- Entry

Aside from their good music choices, these entries stood out due to the artists’ dedication and quality of delivery. What I loved most was the seriousness and intentionality in their performances, you could feel the emotion in their voices, appreciate the sound quality, and enjoy the overall video production.

Another possible reason for their success could be their interaction with other artists in the community. A good performance is one thing, but support from the community is another. Let’s be honest, people tend to vote for those they're friends with. So if you’re an artist reading this, engaging with others in the community is important. Beyond the votes, it builds confidence, encourage collaboration and keeps you motivated.

In a fair and transparent competition like this one, I strongly believe there’s room for any dedicated artist to become a winner.

Special Mentions

I want to give a big shout-out 🎤 to:

@zicmusicEntry
He performed his original song "Won My Heart." The lyrics were great, and what impressed me most was his creativity in harmonizing the song.

@ernesto6402Entry
He delivered a freestyle worship song titled "What Can We Do Without You." His spontaneous composition reminded me of a close Christian friend who always freestyles when playing the piano in our prayer meetings.

@bigsteffEntry
He edified us with his original gospel hip-hop track "You Have to Do What You’ve Got to Do."

@zaniverseEntry
An instrumentalist who gave us a feel-good Afropop instrumental titled "Jade."

You can visit their pages and support them in any way you can; kind comment, a share, or a Hive tip goes a long way.

Week 36 was another exciting edition. From awesome vocals to skillful instrumentals, every entry brought something special to the community. A big thank you to all the artists who didn’t hold back in entertaining us, as well as to the judges and everyone working behind the scenes to make this competition a success.

It’s encouraging to see how this contest is not only bringing new users to Hive but also helping to retain them. However, I believe participants should be encouraged to explore other communities on Hive. Some artists only post or interact once every two weeks for the competition. With Hive’s wide range of communities, whether music-related or in entirely different niches, there’s so much more they can engage with, grow from, and contribute to.

Also, since we have both talented instrumentalists and vocalists, it would be incredible to see some duets and more collaborations within the community. Especially if the songs are original, this could elevate the competition to a whole new level.

Follow the Vibes community to stay updated on future contests, and if you’re a musician, vocalist, or music lover, consider joining the next edition. Your voice might just be the vibe we’ve been waiting for☺️.

Thank you for reading.

Thank you for the mention @phyna. I’m curious as to how the Duets could work and the governing policy of the Vibes Competition as well as Hive as a whole in terms of how the accounts would share the originality of the content. For some instance, I’m a producer and could collaborate with a Vibes artist to make an original which I think would be so awesome, but how then does the post show that it’s a collaboration and not just one of the parties that owns it?

Good afternoon!
You will explain in a little write up and tag the artist. Also, mention the artist at the beginning of the video.
To share rewards, you can just add the person as a beneficiary.

I think that is it.

But @verbal-d should know better.
