Delicious Cotonou Street Food - Phone Photography contest 69
Greetings,
Summer and the wonderful discovery on the street.
How are you doing, my friends?
Your summer vacation is going as planned, or do you sometime venture outside your predetermined activities to explore in the city or abroad?
It is a pleasure to show you the discovery of my small adventure on the street food of the neighborhood unknown to me.
I was at home playing on my gaming console when I receive a message of my friend Codjo who came back to the country for the summer vacation.
He asked me to bring one of his favorite street food Ata and Tevi to his place so we can enjoy nice food while talking and playing online video games.
It was my second time to his residence, so I was not too sure about the right street to choose once in the area location on my map device.
Surprises were waiting for me on the way to pick up some food in this unfamiliar zone.

I would submit this first photo for the contest jury appreciation.

It was 2pm when I left home. I had my phone on me to guide myself to the area on the map. I had 10 minutes drive on a motorbike to arrive at the place. Once I reached my destination, I call Codjo for more information about the spot where he ordered the best snack you can find on the street.
It got so confusing that the lack of geolocation on my map did not ease the process to find the street food salers.
It was already getting 3pm and the pedestrians could not point me to the right direction to meet the street food business.
I decided to change the plan and buy from a different spots. I told Codjo that he would go check the orders himself meanwhile I will find another lady who can provide me with Ata and Tevi.

It is a fried food made from Yams cut in small pieces and red beans smash until it is a liquid.
This street food is very popular, but it is not all the business that engage in this activity that survive the intense competition to catch the maximum of customers on daily basis.

I finally found a place about 200 meters away from my friend house where i tasted the Ata and Tevi shortly taken from the boiling oil.
It was great the way I like it. I did not spend anytime looking for my Codjo approvement and paid two large plastic bags around 3 HBD equivalent to XOF the local currency.
I got to be fast when you find a good tasting street food business because the crowd around build up just before the product is ready and pick from the oil to fill the waiting orders.

The main red sauce that often comes with Ata and Tevi a red pepper highly concentrate. You can have the food without spice, but it is not the same experience, I can guaranty that final result as experience spicy food consumer.
I returned to Codjo place. There were two friends of Codjo present playing a tournament of soccer game. The afternoon was magnificent. Codjo wanted to show me the place where he ordered first. After tasting this area, Ata and Tevi the entire crew agreed to switch back to the first street food business.

In my country we call this akara and fried yam, I remember eating this as a kid before going to school during my primary school days, but now we sometimes make it as our morning breakfast.
Nice way to start the day with Akara and fried yam.

Good is looking super and awesome
Some street foods are so delicious. I am sure the flavours of this sauce would enhance its taste even more.
oh my, street food.. I love street food 😋, yum yum! Everytime I'm burned out with my weekly tasks, I sometimes take time to go out and grab a bit of my favorite street food.. Some street food vendors here in my country sell fried sweet potatoes with caramelized sugar coating.. But I've never seen fried yam.. I wonder what it would taste like if we switch the sweet potatoes to yam, then fry them and coat them with candied sugar 🤣, I think that would taste interesting.. Business idea?? 😁
Anyway, have a lovely day @oadissin
Enjoy your day
Be safe with the street food quality
Peace
