WRITING MY OWN SCRIPT WITH GRATITUDE

Well, as the prompt says, we mostly talk about the bad things happening in our lives, the negative aspects of life, the ups and downs. But we often fail to take out time to also praise our strengths and the good side of us. Life is not always about struggles and challenges, there are also victories and virtues within us that deserve recognition.

Most times, we wait for others’ gratification as if our life and existence depend on it, forgetting that nobody can write our script for us. The truth is, we hold the pen to our own story, and it is left for us to decide whether we want to write it boldly or allow others to dictate the lines. That is why, today, I want to take a moment to appreciate and praise some of the good parts of me.

One good thing about me is not quitting easily on a goal I am pursuing. I remember a lot of projects and tasks that I have started, and along the line, it felt so discouraging and annoying that I wanted to quit. Yet, one way or the other, I always find one reason to tell myself, “Nsi, you can’t stop halfway, you must finish what you started.” I always manage to encourage myself, even when no one is there to do so. I dust myself off and move forward, and at the end of the day, that thing always sees the light of day. That resilience has shaped me into the person I am becoming.

Again, I think I find joy and satisfaction whenever I carry out any form of humanitarian service. For a long time, I have developed this love for humanity, trying to assist the less privileged in my own little way, and this has always given me joy. Knowing that my little effort can brighten someone’s day or put a smile on a weary face is one of the greatest rewards of life, and it remains a good part of me.

Another good part of me, which I have been learning and gradually mastering over the past few years, is the ability to forgive immediately. I am very quick to forgive, even though I might never forget, for my own safety. But forgiving fast, that I will always do. I do it for my own sanity, because I don’t like anything disturbing my peace of mind. I have discovered that any time I forgive quickly, I feel relieved and relaxed, although I still set boundaries to protect myself.

I have many other good things to talk about and praise in myself, but I will stop here today, with a grateful heart that I am learning to celebrate the positives in me.
