Near the beach, behind a store that many people visit, there is a place designed for rest. It is a kind of open structure, built with concrete, with spaced beams that allow light to pass through.

Above, there is a woven fabric placed between the beams. It doesn’t completely block the sunlight, but softens it, creating a balance between light and shadow.

That combination caught my attention.

As the sun filters through the structure, it creates a pattern of shadows on the ground. Lines, shapes, and spaces that repeat and change depending on the angle of the light. Even without people, the place feels alive, as if it keeps the memory of those who come to sit, rest, and share moments there.

It is a place where people sometimes gather, talk, or even have small picnics. But this time, what stood out to me was not the activity, but the design of the shadows themselves.

The structure, the fabric, and the sunlight come together to create something simple yet visually striking.

Sometimes, shadows don’t need human presence to tell a story. The space, the light, and the intention behind a structure are enough.

And this is what I share with you today for this contest.

Cerca de la playa, detrás de una tienda que muchas personas frecuentan, hay un espacio pensado para el descanso. Es una especie de estructura abierta, construida en hormigón, con vigas espaciadas que permiten el paso de la luz.

En la parte superior, tiene un tejido entrelazado colocado entre las vigas. Este no tapa completamente el sol, pero sí lo suaviza, creando un equilibrio entre luz y sombra.

Esa combinación llamó mi atención.

A medida que la luz del sol atraviesa la estructura, va formando un patrón de sombras en el suelo. Líneas, formas y espacios que se repiten y cambian según el ángulo de la luz. Aun sin personas, el lugar se siente vivo, como si guardara la presencia de quienes suelen sentarse allí a descansar o compartir.

Es un sitio donde muchas veces la gente se reúne, conversa o incluso hace pequeños picnic. Pero en esta ocasión, lo que más me llamó la atención no fue la actividad, sino el dibujo de las sombras.

La estructura, el tejido y la luz se combinan para crear algo simple pero visualmente muy atractivo.

A veces, las sombras no necesitan de la presencia humana para contar una historia. El espacio, la luz y la intención detrás de una estructura son suficientes.
