Yesterday was one of those days that brings surprises. The first surprise came in the morning: a good friend of mine, who is in Panama, told me to stop by another friend's house to pick up some things he had sent me, and if I'm telling you this here, it's because, obviously, among the things he sent me were three cans of Panama beer.
I love gifts, so you can imagine how happy I was! And I had never tried this beer before, so I was doubly excited. In the afternoon, I went to pick them up at the house of a friend who is going on vacation to Venezuela, and from there we decided to go as a group to a nearby beach to share stories and reminisce about old times.
Panama beer is quite light and easy to drink, as it has an alcohol content of 3.5%, so it almost felt like I was drinking a soda. It is pale in color and has a smooth, very refreshing taste. According to the label, it is made with very high-quality ingredients, such as purified water, malted barley, and hops. Since it was a gift, I don't know how much it costs, and it would be very rude to ask.
According to this friend who lives in Panama, there are many varieties of beer in that country, but he sent me this one because La Panamá is the most popular. However, he promised to send me other types so I could choose which one I liked best. So stay tuned for new posts about Panamanian beers, although it probably won't be anytime soon.
It was delightful to taste a new beer. Beer lovers know the pleasure of recognizing flavors, discovering new ones, and making comparisons. And if the beer is free and shared among friends, the pleasure is doubled. Cheers!
