Indiaunited contest : Theme: Technology: Making Life Easier or Complicated?

My response to the @Indiaunited Contest - Theme: Technology: Making Life Easier or Complicated?

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

I am not a big fan of technology and I always have mixed opinion on this question. There are somethings where definitely technology has made life easy and some areas of life where it's made complicated. So, there is no direct yes or no answer for me. With the technology progressing, a lot of things have simplified like Mobile phones have made it easy calling long distances, messaging has become easier, all you need is an internet connection. I remember in my teens, we had no telephone at home and when I had to make a call, I had to go to a Public telephone booth. It was not easy to speak with relatives often. Then came the Landline, and it felt so much better sitting at home and dialing. And then came mobile phones where you could call from anywhere.

In the beginning the charges to use the mobile phones were very high, it was expensive to use, but with time and technology advancing even that simplified. With apps getting developed a lot of functions got simplified, like google maps, camera, video. In early 2000 when I went for a holiday I carried a big camcorder, it was so bulky, but now just a good camera mobile phone does all the functions of photography and video, so it definitely is easy. Let's talk about the alarm, it was nice to have that clock near the bedside, but by chance if the battery was gone or you forgot the winding then you would end up oversleeping.

Not only the mobile phones, but technology overall has been beneficial, look at the development of blockchain and crypto currency, where you have the opportunity to make money. Though It is complicated to use right now, but I am sure with time this will also simplify. Then you have Robotics, today the most complexed surgery are done by Robotics and they have reduced the risk factor. For my hubby we got a Robotic surgery done to remove the Thymus gland which was the cause of his condition of Myasthenia Gravis. If it had to be done normal, it would have been more of a open heart kind of surgery and would have taken months for the healing, but Robotic surgery healed it much faster. Then there are smart home devices, like washing machine, dishwashers, and such equipment's which have been so handy and useful in the kitchen and other areas of home. 2 decades back we had a maid who handwashed clothes and if she would not turn up for a couple of days, it was such a stressful activity. Not any more.

Talk about the space programs, huge developments in the last 1 decade with technology developments. We have space satellites sending us information from deep space. Giving us knowledge of the space which is untouchable. Technology is just not about the Mobile phone, though that's the most used by people.

There are definitely more advantages. The complications are about the usage part, how they are used, with Internet and Mobile phones being the most misused. A lot of people spend so much time on it that they forget to live in the real world, and that's what I find it complicated. The gaming industry is booming, but then on the other side, people are becoming like zombies spending time and money on it. Then there are so many scams and frauds, it becomes difficult to identify what is genuine and what is fraud.

The other complication that I see about technology is that it gets outdated very soon, and you keep spending on upgrading it. Which means more expenses. Be it a television, mobile phone, refrigerator, Alexa or any such tools, as technology advances which is rapidly, you want to keep upgrading to the latest versions of it, and these things are not cheap. They put additional burden on the pocket, and that does complicate life. Some people cannot identify between necessity and luxury and even a luxury becomes a necessity.

As I said, in my life the use of technology is only what is important and useful for me and I am not a gadget fan, be it any.

Yes truly technology has helped us in many ways you just mentioned and the same time has brought doom to so many people who have lost their hard earned money and other valuable things through internet use and this call for us to be more careful and wiser on the use of technology

There are risks involved with it and one has to be very careful. Before there were actually robberies happening, but nowadays it's all mostly cyber crime

To an extent true, but that also depends on people. As such technology is not bad if used in the right manner
