Staying Focused Through Struggles: My Journey of Motivation and Discipline

The hardships my parents faced while raising me and my brother have motivated me a lot in life. I have met many people and observed them changing very quickly, disappearing once I was no longer useful to them. So, there is no single reason for me not to aim toward my goals. Why wouldn’t I be focused? Because I know the reality, that there won’t always be anyone for me. I have to take care of myself and also my beloved parents because I want to be there for them when they grow old. For that reason, I have to stay focused all my life.

I have many things that motivate me. I would be lying if I said that I always feel motivated, because there are many times when I feel low and not that confident about myself. But then, in a moment, I realize that I have to get up and start doing my own things. That may be because I want to prove my relatives wrong or prove to myself that I am no less than anyone else. Currently, I am studying very hard so that I can get a degree and find a job to stabilize my life. Our thoughts will motivate us. If we can change them, then anything can happen.

I would say, if you can identify your interruptions, then you can figure out a cure for each one. I reduce distractions by changing the location of my phone, because that’s the only distraction that hampers my studies. I always turn off my phone and put it in another room. I prefer to keep it turned off for approximately 3–5 hours. Once I have finished my studies, I turn it on to check for important messages. So, you either control your electronics or they will control you.

First of all, you need to reduce what you see and hear to handle external distractions. Start the day with determination, with a desire to do something. Try doing something challenging and start working hard to achieve your future dreams. It is also important to take breaks in between and to try to have a positive attitude, because then nothing can distract you. Before going to bed, make some plans for the next day. That’s what I usually do, I think of many plans and try to accomplish them the next day. Even if it’s not possible 100%, I at least try to do some.
