Birds also know about light and shadow, and they use it to their advantage. I saw this for myself yesterday when I finally decided to go to a marshy area on the north coast where there is a very diverse and rich ecosystem. It turns out that, in addition to being far away, the conditions were challenging: mosquitoes, lots of mud, and very little light. But anyway, since I like challenges, I found it fascinating.

At first, you don't see any birds and you say, "Ugh, I wasted my time," but gradually, with patience and an hour of waiting sitting on the ground, some began to appear, very cautiously in those small spaces where the sunlight reached.

Some, already a little more confident and not seeing me as a threat, decided to show themselves fully and defiantly.

Others remained in the shade, their refuge, peeking out at intervals and then hiding again. I can tell you that it's super exciting to be there and wait for that precise moment when the bird shows itself, even if it only lasts a few seconds.

Until I entered the swampy area; there, it was a different story. My guide said that a small crocodile had been seen there recently, which added drama to the story; however, small water birds began to appear.

This species is always alert, almost blending into the environment and forcing me to get even dirtier by having to crouch down almost to the ground to take the pictures.

In the end, I was covered in mud, almost unrecognizable but happy. I had been able to overcome the challenge of taking pictures in complex lighting conditions, especially with my camera, which is already quite old and doesn't perform very well in those conditions, but still, it fought until the end.

This won't be the last outing; I'm sure there will be many more, and I'm happy and satisfied with that.

Hola, amigos de #blackandwhite.

Las aves también conocen de luces y sombras, y lo utilizan como estrategia a su favor. Eso lo pude comprobar ayer; finalmente me decidí a ir a una zona pantanosa de la costa norte donde hay un ecosistema muy diverso y rico. Resulta que, además de estar alejado el lugar, las condiciones eran complejas: mosquitos, mucho lodo y muy poca luz, pero igual, como me gustan los retos, aquello me resultó fascinante.

A primera hora no ves ningún ave y dices: "Uffff, perdí mi tiempo, pero paulatinamente, con paciencia y 1 hora de espera sentado en el suelo, comenzaron algunas a asomarse, con mucha cautela en esos pequeños espacios que daba la luz del sol.

Algunas, ya con un poco más de confianza y al no verme como una amenaza, decidían dejarse ver de cuerpo entero y desafiante.

A otras les seguía la sombra siendo su refugio; a intervalos asomaban y volvían a esconderse. Les digo que es superemocionante estar allí y esperar ese momento preciso donde el ave se deja ver, aunque solo dure pocos segundos.

Hasta que entré en zona pantanosa; allí el juego era otro. Decía la persona que me servía de guía que allí habían visto un pequeño cocodrilo recientemente, lo que le añadía drama a la historia; no obstante, fueron apareciendo pequeñas aves acuáticas.

Esta especie siempre alerta, casi fusionándose con el entorno y obligándome a ensuciarme más al tener que agacharme casi ras al suelo para tomar las imágenes.

Nada qur al final sel recorrido terminé puro lodo, casi irreconocible pero feliz, había podido superar el reto de hacer las imágenes en condiciones de luz complejas y más pqra mi cámara que ya es algo entrada en años y en esas condiciones no se desenvuelve muy bien, pero igual, batalló hasta el final.

No será la última salida, estoy seguro vendrán muchas más, yo feliz y satisfecho eso si.
