I chose to draw Zero Two because, honestly, she’s one of those characters you just don’t forget once you’ve seen her. Darling in the Franxx is packed with themes about identity, survival, and connection, but Zero Two stands right at the center of all that. She’s bold, rebellious, and carries this aura of mystery that makes her instantly stand out. The horns, the smile, the way she looks at people like she already knows their secrets—it all makes her incredibly fun to bring to life on the page.
What I like most about her is the balance she holds. On the surface, she’s wild, confident, and almost untouchable, but underneath all of that is someone who’s searching for acceptance and love. That duality makes her really compelling to draw, because you’re not just sketching a cool design—you’re trying to capture that mix of strength and vulnerability in her expression, her posture, even the way her hair flows.
As for the anime itself, Darling in the Franxx is one of those shows that leaves an impression whether you love it or criticize it. It mixes giant mecha battles with very human struggles, and while the story goes into some heavy, even strange directions, it’s the relationships that stick with you. Zero Two and Hiro’s bond is the heart of the series, and it’s what turns her from just a striking character into something much deeper.
That’s why I wanted to draw her: not just because she looks great on the page, but because she feels like a character worth capturing—someone whose story stays with you long after the anime ends.
