ART EXAM

Last year in art school, I had one exam that really stood out to me. Our lecturer asked us to pick four different types of pepper and use only colored pens to draw them. The instruction was that the work had to be framed and measured seven by seven in size. At first, it sounded simple, but when I sat down to actually do it, I realized how challenging it would be. It was my very first time working with colored pens, so I had to learn how to blend, layer, and bring out details without the comfort of paint or pencils. Most of us in the class really put in our best effort, and it was amazing to see how different everyone’s interpretation turned out, even though we were all drawing peppers. For me, it was both a struggle and a learning experience. I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off at the start, but by the end, seeing my framed work finished gave me a sense of pride. That exam taught me patience, creativity, and the importance of trying new mediums.
