LOH#237 : A Special Celebration For My Mom

Hi Ladies... happy mother's day to everyone. This week's topic is very interesting because it's a special mother's day. What are your plans to celebrate mother's day? For me, moments with my mom are the happiest. Even when we meet her, we often spend time chatting together. Understandably, we rarely meet because we live far away, I usually visit her once a week. There weren't many things we did. We usually cook together, help her clean the house, sometimes if we're lazy we just sit and chat all day.

I am a mother but in front of my mother I am still a little princess who is always pampered by her. Really, she always treated me like that. She would prepare my favorite meal when I called her that I was coming to visit. My mom was a good storyteller. I often poured out all my complaints when taking care of my children and also my little family. She always advises me, comforts me when I am sad and also supports me. Did my mom never have any problems? Of course not. She also often complained to me about how hard it was to raise my younger brother alone. Ever since my father passed away 8 years ago my mom has had to earn a living to pay for my brother's schooling. She never gave up, which is why I've always been proud of her.

Today I visited my mom's house. We plan to cook Lodho Chicken and also Candil Porridge. Lodho Chicken is like a mandatory food that we always cook when there is a celebration in our family. This time we will also make Candil Porridge. Candil Porridge is a porridge made from glutinous rice that is shaped into small rounds and then cooked with coconut milk and brown sugar. It is very delicious. We used to make Candil Porridge to celebrate the birth of my mother's pet goat kids. A very funny tradition isn't it. Hahaha

For me today was a great mother's day celebration. We all ate together, joking around while enjoying the dishes I made with my mom earlier. I was surprised when suddenly my mother hugged me, thanked me, and wished me good things. This really moved me. As a child I must also wish her all the best.

Honestly, I'm still touched when I write this. I always remember how she raised me well, the happy childhood moments with her. I am grateful that my mother is healthy and can accompany her children and grandchildren to this day. This is a very extraordinary gift from God. Thank you mom, your presence will never be replaced by anything. Thank you ladies for reading to the end. Have fun and see you soon.

It is wonderful how often our family celebrations encompass around our traditional dishes especially when we fully acknowledge the true value of our mothers who love us unconditionally whether in good times and bad.
Mothers are indeed a gift from God.
