My true pet...QC prompt #172.

Greetings 👋

Having pets around the home can make the home a very lively place to be in. Pets have a way of chasing boredom and creating a friendly and relaxing setting but even with these benefits, I don't see myself raising one, at least not yet.

I'm fond of pets and domesticated animals but what I lack currently is time and space. The time needed to look after pets, care for them and all that is lacking with me and then there's a need for a spacious environment so that the pet can move freely about. This is also lacking because I currently occupy a mini flat, a space not conducive to keep a pet.

But when it comes to exotic pets, I think I might consider raising one. Exotic pets are like high class pets. I view them as the cream de la cream of pets They are not the regular kind of pets we know or own such as cats and dogs. These pets are quite rare and they are simply lovable.

Some examples of exotic pets are; Pythons, Parrots, Iguanas, Chameleons, **Hedgehogs, Tarantulas and others.

Personally, if I had the option of raising an exotic pets, I would pick raising a parrot. I have been fascinated with parrots since my childhood days. I am most especially drawn to their way of mimicking human speech. That is so awesome.

Parrots come in different breeds but the most common breeds are African Grey Parrot, Amazon parrot and Cockatiels. Of all, I prefer the African grey parrot because it is highly intelligent and can be a real mimic.

I dug deeper into understanding what it would take to raise parrots and what I found was very surprising. Parrots need a lot of space or aviary. They also need a lot of attention and care but most of all, they require a balanced diet meal. I was like …..what?!!!

I thought parrots only ate crackers from all the movies I have watched. How come they also need balanced meals like humans?

Oh well, that's a bummer because I don't have much space Andi also don't have time to pay a lot of attention to a bird who would become sassy with me later on or if it felt neglected.

I would love to have a parrot as an exotic pets but I think I'd better keep that thought in a box for now.
