The Power Of Small Gestures — LOH#277.
Huhm, talking of the dumbest thing someone has ever done to win me over. All I can say is, it's indeed dumb, but to be honest I saw the bigger picture.

It was on a rainy day, and it was around that time when everyone was closing for work and are making their way home, while some of us are hiding under a shops shade till we can get a bike or cab to take us to our destination.
People that I met theirs including those that met me under the small shop roof had gotten a cab, I was now the only one left standing, night is falling already and I was still thinking of what I can do when Funmi came by. Funmi was my colleague at work, but we weren't that close.
And guess what she did immediately she saw me, she just turned her head the other way and stretched out her hand to me and gave me a small brown carton bag. She didn't greet me, she didn't say "take," she didn't even say she likes me or say something. I collected the bag from her and checked, inside of it was Boli(roasted plantain) and groundnut.
I looked at her, and can't help but wonder how she will be gifting me one Boli and one groundnut, like, I don't understand.

I decided not to say thank you too. Then she broke the silence.
"I bought two and decided to save one for you." She said still not looking at me, then she continued. "I have seen you helping others out and doing the little things, just yesterday you helped an old woman crossed the road."
I just smiled not knowing what to say.
"I've never seen you eaten at work, and you need to be healthy, strong and fit to keep doing what you do." She said and looked me straight in the eye.
The dumbest part and what got me feeling somehow the most was the seriousness on her face. She looked as if she had given me the most valuable thing. I felt like laughing out loud, but I held myself back.
"Well, I'm glad you collected it. I had been praying to God about it, since I don't know how to impress you. But I'm glad my prayers receives answers." She said.

I actually love Boli, but I've never eaten it with groundnut. I've heard and seen people say it's a nice combo. And I've planned on trying it both someday. And here is it being gifted to me, even though it sounds/looks dumb. But I appreciate it. I thank her as she bade me goodbye.
I didn't fall in love with her, but that moment, I understand that we don't always win people's hearts with the big things. Sometimes it could be that small thing they've put their heart into.
