En mi pasado cumpleaños, recibí dinero de cumpleaños como obsequio, no lo pensé y me fui hasta la tienda de telas a comprar diferentes telas que quería desde hace tiempo, entre ellas una en color verde para decorar mi hogar, y hoy mi sala se viste de este hermoso color verde, para comenzar con mi decoración resaltando el verde haré los forros de los cojines de mis muebles, aquí les comparto el paso a paso:

For my last birthday, I received birthday money as a gift. Without hesitation, I went straight to the fabric store to buy several fabrics I'd wanted for a while, including a green one to decorate my home. Today, my living room is adorned in this beautiful green. To begin my decorations highlighting the green, I'll be making cushion covers for my furniture. Here's the step-by-step tutorial:

Diciembre es un mes, el cual nos motiva a hacer reparaciones, manualidades, o cualquier cosa para decorar nuestro hogar y hoy me siento muy feliz al saber que le haré los forros a mis muebles, es por esto que pensé en la idea de hacerles forros nuevos y en un color llamativo, así que manos a la obra, ahora mi sala se vestirá de un elegante color verde, para la confección de estos forros se necesitan los siguientes materiales:

• 2m de tela Minimat
• elástico de 1 cm de ancho
• Tijeras
• Cinta métrica
• Máquina de coser

December is a month that motivates us to do repairs, crafts, or anything to decorate our homes, and today I feel very happy knowing that I'll be making covers for my furniture. That's why I thought of making new covers in a striking color, so let's get to work! Now my living room will be dressed in an elegant green. To make these covers, you will need the following materials:

• 2 meters of Minimat fabric
• 1 cm wide elastic
• Scissors
• Measuring tape
• Sewing machine

Comenzaré haciendo los forros de los muebles más pequeños, yo les tengo hecho como especie de un cojín con cartón y goma espuma, estos miden alrededor de 62 cm de ancho, por 52 cm de fondo, a esto debo agregarle los centímetros de costura, para cortar la pieza principal, aprovecharé el ancho de la tela la cual me alcanzará para las dos piezas y de medida de fondo lo cortaré de 70 cm, para el adorno plisado, el cual se lo haré sólo en la parte del frente del mueble voy a cortar tiras de 10 cm de ancha, también cortaré tiras de 10 cm de ancho para hacerle la pestaña y engomarla, para que se sostenga.

I'll start by making the covers for the smaller pieces of furniture. I've made them like a sort of cushion with cardboard and foam. These measure about 62 cm wide by 52 cm deep. To this I must add the seam allowance. To cut the main piece, I'll take advantage of the width of the fabric, which will be enough for both pieces, and for the depth I'll cut it to 70 cm. For the pleated trim, which I'll only do on the front of the furniture, I'm going to cut 10 cm wide strips. I'll also cut 10 cm wide strips to make the tab and glue it so it stays in place.

Para el mueble grande, las medidas de la tela para el forro serán de 1,40 m y de fondo igual 52 cm, dejo el excedente para las costuras, para la orilla, plisada de adorno, cortaré tiras de 15 cm de ancho, para este forro dejaré 15 cm de excedente en la medida del fondo para doblar como una pestaña para que calce en el cojín, este al ser más largo, no lo voy a engomar, trataré de hacerle las pestañas fijas con un soporte en el Centro, para que no se salga.

For the large piece of furniture, the fabric measurements for the lining will be 1.40 m long and 52 cm deep. I'm leaving the excess for the seams. For the decorative pleated edge, I'll cut strips 15 cm wide. For this lining, I'll leave a 15 cm excess in the depth measurement to fold as a tab so that it fits the cushion. Since this one is longer, I'm not going to glue it. I'll try to make the tabs fixed with a support in the center so that it doesn't come off.

En este paso vamos a comenzar con las costuras, Primero le colocaré el adorno plisado que va al frente del forro, para esto voy a hacerle un ruedo bastante delgado a la tira de 10cm, luego uno con costura en la parte del frente del forro, luego uno la orilla de 10 cm la cual será la pestaña que va doblada hacia adentro esta le colocaremos elástico por todo el alrededor y le hacemos el ruedo.

In this step we will begin with the sewing. First, I will attach the pleated trim to the front of the lining. To do this, I will make a very thin hem to the 10cm strip, then sew it to the front of the lining. Next, I will sew the 10cm edge, which will be the tab that is folded inwards. We will attach elastic all around this and then hem it.

Me encanta este color, siento que se ve mucho más bonito, ahora continúo con el del mueble grande, a éste, le voy a doblar la pestaña de 15 cm. en la parte de atrás, le hago un ruedo bastante delgado, luego uno la tela de 15 cm para hacerle el plisado de el adorno en la parte del frente, luego uno con costura, la tira que será la pestaña en la parte del frente, en los lados, voy a colocarle un retazo de tela en el espacio que sobra entre ambas pestañas de atrás y de adelante, en el Centro le voy a colocar una tira fija para que el forro quede estable y no se mueva.

I love this color; I feel it looks much nicer. Now I'll continue with the large piece of furniture. For this one, I'm going to fold the 15 cm tab on the back and make a fairly thin hem. Then I'll join the 15 cm fabric to create the pleat for the trim on the front. Next, I'll sew the strip that will be the tab on the front. On the sides, I'm going to place a scrap of fabric in the space between the two tabs on the back and front. In the center, I'm going to place a fixed strip so that the lining stays in place and doesn't move.

Y así ya están listos, los forros para los muebles, se los coloco a los cojines y luego se los coloco a cada mueble, el resultado me ha encantado, el color verde era uno de los colores que menos me gustaba, pero en la actualidad me encanta y este tono que escogí para los muebles, pienso que se ve muy bonito.

And so they're ready, the furniture covers. I put them on the cushions and then on each piece of furniture. I love the result. Green was one of the colors I liked least, but now I love it, and I think this shade I chose for the furniture looks very nice.
