Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes mi primera Participación para el Concurso del mes de noviembre, motivándonos a concientizar acerca de la relación entre humanos y animales, como Primera Participación se la voy a dedicar a mis adorados gatos “Negro y Tesoro”, y para esto quiero compartir con ustedes una linda idea para hacer un collar para gatos con la técnica del macramé, acompáñame y te comparto el paso a paso :

Today I want to share with you my first entry for the November contest, which aims to raise awareness about the relationship between humans and animals. For my first entry, I'm dedicating it to my beloved cats, "Negro and Tesoro," and I want to share with you a lovely idea for making a cat collar using macrame. Join me and I'll share the step-by-step instructions:

Negro y Tesoro llegaron a formar parte de mi familia hace ya casi 5 años, desde ese momento nuestras vidas cambiaron y ahora, giran en torno a ellos dos, cuando los adoptamos tenían tan sólo un mes de vida, y desde allí se han robado nuestros corazones, nuestras camas, mesas, sillas, entre otras cosas, ja ja, pero es que son tan adorables que les permitimos muchas travesuras y ocurrencias y con esto nos alegran nuestros días, desde hace un tiempo, los he acostumbrado a que cada uno tenga su propio collar y pensando en este Concurso, tuve una idea de hacerle un collar en macramé, me fui hasta el centro de mi ciudad a comprar unos dijes con la inicial de cada uno y así personalizar sus collares y que luzcan elegantes y originales, así que manos a la obra, aquí te dejo la lista de materiales a utilizar:

• cinta cola de ratón de los colores de su preferencia, se necesitarán 2 colores diferentes
• encendedor
• tijeras
• cinta métrica

Negro and Tesoro became part of my family almost 5 years ago. From that moment on, our lives changed and now revolve around them. When we adopted them, they were only a month old, and since then they've stolen our hearts, our beds, tables, chairs, and more, haha. But they're so adorable that we let them get away with so much mischief and funny antics, and they brighten our days. For a while now, I've gotten them used to each having their own collar, and thinking about this contest, I had the idea to make them macrame collars. I went downtown to buy charms with each of their initials to personalize their collars and make them look elegant and original. So, let's get started! Here's the list of materials you'll need:

• Rat tail cord in your preferred colors (you'll need 2 different colors)
• Lighter
• Scissors
• Measuring tape

Para el tejido de cada collar vamos a utilizar cinta de cola de ratón de dos colores, en mi caso utilizaré para uno de los collares negro y rojo y para el otro blanco y dorado, la que lleva rojo es para mi gato negro, para él, me encanta el color rojo ❤️ se le ve muy lindo, y para Tesoro será el que llevara dorado,💛 para guiarme con el tamaño, voy a utilizar uno de sus collares, el cual tiene la medida perfecta para su cuello, por ser la primera vez que hago algo con la técnica del macramé, voy a utilizar 1 m de la cinta base y 2 m de la cinta a tejer. 🧶

For weaving each collar, we'll use two colors of rattail cord. In my case, I'll use black and red for one collar and white and gold for the other. The one with red is for my black cat; I love the color red for him ❤️ it looks so cute on him. And Tesoro will have the one with gold 💛. To guide me with the size, I'll use one of his collars, which is the perfect length for his neck. Since this is my first time using macrame, I'll use 1 meter of the base cord and 2 meters of the cord to weave. 🧶

Comenzaremos doblando la cinta negra a la mitad y la prensamos en ambos extremos con alguna pinza o gancho, vamos a hacer un nudo con la cinta roja a la mitad, dejando un excedente en cada extremo de la cinta negra, continuamos haciendo el nudo de macramé, la cinta que nos queda del lado izquierdo, la vamos a pasar por encima del hilo negro y la cinta que nos queda por el lado derecho, la vamos a pasar por debajo y por el centro del aro que formamos con el hilo rojo izquierdo y ajustamos, en mis imágenes les muestro el procedimiento, espero se entienda.

We'll start by folding the black ribbon in half and securing both ends with a clip or hook. Next, we'll make a knot with the red ribbon in the middle, leaving an excess of black ribbon at each end. We'll continue making the macrame knot. The ribbon that remains on the left side will be passed over the black thread, and the ribbon that remains on the right side will be passed under and through the center of the loop formed with the left red thread. We'll then tighten it. My images show the procedure; I hope it's clear.

El segundo nudo vamos a hacer el mismo procedimiento, pero al contrario la cinta del lado derecho la vamos a pasar por encima de la cinta negra, la cinta del lado izquierdo la vamos a pasar por debajo de la cinta derecha, así vamos a seguir esta secuencia, cuando ya nos quede la mitad de la cinta que estamos tejiendo en este casa la roja introducimos el dije con la inicial y continuamos anudando hasta completar toda la cinta de color rojo.

Les confieso que al principio me costó, ya que me enredaba y en varias ocasiones, repetía el tejido del mismo lado y va quedando un poco mal, así que tuve que deshacer el tejido varias veces hasta que por fin logré llevar la secuencia, creo que en parte fue falta de concentración 🤭

For the second knot, we'll do the same procedure, but in reverse. We'll pass the right ribbon over the black ribbon, and the left ribbon under the right ribbon. We'll continue this sequence until we have half of the ribbon we're weaving—in this case, the red one—we'll add the charm with the initial and continue knotting until we've completed the entire red ribbon.

I confess that at first it was difficult for me, as I kept getting tangled up and often repeated the weaving on the same side, which made it look a bit messy. So I had to undo the weaving several times until I finally managed to follow the sequence. I think it was partly due to a lack of concentration 🤭

Para finalizar estos lindos collares al culminarse la cinta que estamos utilizando para tejer la vamos a quemar en la punta con un encendedor y aplastamos un poco para sellar, en mi caso para colocársela a mis gatos, intenté con un nudo corredizo, pero este se aflojaba, así que esperaré hasta que pueda comprar un broche plástico como el que traen los collares, para que sea más seguro para ellos y que no se les vaya a perder, y así ya están listos estos lindos collares para mis gatos, espero les guste esta linda idea 🐈‍⬛ ❤️

To finish these cute collars, once the ribbon we're using for weaving is complete, we'll burn the end with a lighter and flatten it slightly to seal it. In my case, to put them on my cats, I tried a sliding knot, but it kept coming loose, so I'll wait until I can buy a plastic clasp like the ones that come with collars, so it's safer for them and they don't lose it. And there you have it, these cute collars for my cats are ready! I hope you like this cute idea 🐈‍⬛ ❤️

For us humans, life with pets is happier, and together we can fight for animals, in general, to have a dignified and very happy life. I love my cats and can't imagine my life without them. Their antics and mischief make my days more fun and happy. They've been the stars of many of my posts, and today I wanted to praise them once again by making these beautiful collars.
