My entry on weekly engagement on wk 113/ reflection on childhood discipline
Good day to all hiveans in @hiveghana community,
It's my pleasure to be writing on this community today, I just came across it as I was scrolling through my ecency app, I was interested to know what the community is all about, so I opened it read about it's goals , I also saw this recently posted post about weekly engagement, I went through it and I loved what I read about it , without much delay I subscribed to the channel and now I'm writing a post to
introduce my self
As well as to
engage on this week's public engagement.
First of all introduction:
I'm Michael okechukwu by name, my hive username is @lutherking147 , I have been a hive writer for about a year now and have been opportuned to engage in so many activities going on on hive as a whole. I'm glad to also be among the @hiveghana weekly engagement participants.
some experiences about my childhood
I grew up in a family of eight persons, we are six as siblings then including my parents, I happened to be the second to last born of the family, so that means four of my siblings are my seniors.
The pictures above are my senior brothers and sisters, below 👇 is me and my junior sister
During my childhood, my mother who is a nurse do force us to drink water early in the morning just as we wake up from sleep, omo to me even to my siblings that was a very huge task/ punishment to us , it wasn't easy for us to be doing that then , but the truth is that it helps a lot in the human body system, we never believed all that but now we know it was for our good , drinking a cup of water every morning has become part of me , I no longer see it as punishment rather as something I love to do hence I have known the benefits.
not only that
During my childhood while in my primary school stage , I hardly read my books, I enjoys playing all kinds of play especially football sports, anytime I'm suppose to read my books if my parents aren't at home I will just keep my school bag then off to play football, but most times I do receive better punishment from my parents for over staying outside playing instead of using some of my time to read and study my books. Honestly to me that was a very big punishment, infact sometimes I do see it maybe my parents don't really love me because if they do they should be allowing me to play anytime hence playing is what I love doing, LoL 😂. However that was my negative thoughts then , unlike now that I have seen the benefits of reading and studying, now I know that if I hadn't stopped playing too much and followed my parents guides maybe I won't have the ability to participate in an engagement like this today because I might not be good in reading and writing including other things.
The last thing I will like to talk about is cooking, my Mom taught all of us how to cook from a very young age both boys and girls, we are 3boys and 3 girls, when it reaches my turn to learn how to cook , my mom always invite me to the kitchen every time she is cooking so I can be helping her and she will be teaching me things I need to know, omo its like that was the hardest part for me , that was a whole of stress to me then , I never enjoyed it at first , but not now anymore because I now knows how to cook different Nigerian dishes, and I do enjoy cooking now unlike them 😍. Let me stop here for now .
Very nice upbringing thankGod you stick to them especially drinking water Studying and cooking aspect, even tho your wife wants to do Shakara you can dash to kitchen and fix something ASAP 😆 unlike most men.....
You're welcome to @hiveghana community feel free to post and engage with others here it's a home for all
Sure 😃
Cooking is now part of me unlike before.
Thank you.
That's better, I actually love cooking as well

My mum also taught us how to cook. That's what a typical African woman would do. Thanks for sharing.
You definitely right about what you wrote when parents want us to do what they say but we really don't know sometimes that it is for our good interests but you know when you're growing we all learn from our mistakes because it teaches us better than anyone else can. I really enjoyed what you wrote about this and you have been a great person to this platform and community sharing something beautiful like this remind me of myself when I was little but thank God for His grace we are all here living the life of God and dedicating children and people to follow the same thing. Great one my friend 😁 ✌️
I'm glad you are sincere to admit that your parents stopping you from excessive play has shaped your present today adding great value to you.
Your mother did a great job teaching all of you to be able to cook.
Getting married, no woman will do shakara for you
Unfortunately and very shamefully too, some women can't cook
You don't blame them because probably they weren't taught or they never paid attention to it while growing up.
You've a beautiful family but you never showed us your parents pictures only your siblings o😝
LoL 😂
Thank you so much
Don't worry, I will write a post in which I will post my parents 😍
Waw..so littlelight is your brother
Interesting Story
