The glass half full / My entry Ladies of Hive Community Contest #270 (ENG - ESP)

2025 left more than one scar on me. One of the hardest lessons was apprehending and understanding that nothing lasts forever and that, really, life is short or, as the saying goes: "there is more time than life."

There are days when one wakes up with fear, with the doubt of not having made the right decisions or the right path; You wake up and think it's just another day. The morning passes, the afternoon passes and the night comes; then another day and another week, and we continue living and repeating patterns that we fear breaking.

​However, so much repeated apathy and so much loss have made me wake up. Just as I water my plants when I wake up, I also decided to water my life. I prepare that first coffee with all the love and time in the world; I learned to taste that first cup as a gift, because you are not always lucky enough to open your eyes, embrace the morning and contemplate the birds that cross that little piece of sky that I make mine every dawn.

Therefore, my mornings begin with gratitude for my sip of coffee, for my home and for my children; giving thanks while I contemplate the benefits of my patio and the freshness of the dawn.

​Another lesson learned has been to see the glass half full because, as my grandmother used to say: "as long as there is life, there is hope" and "in bad weather, a good face." It is with this idea that I arrive at the second question. I love to smile: I smile at whoever greets me, I smile when I walk down the street and something catches my attention, and I reinvent the day in my head, filling it with those nonsense that brightens my existence. But, without a doubt, the best laugh is the one that accompanies that of my children or that of a friend.

Life is full of ups and downs, bad days and good days, but it will always depend on us how we face what happens to us.

El 2025 dejó más de una cicatriz en mí. Una de las lecciones más duras fue aprehender y comprender que nada es para siempre y que, realmente, la vida es breve o, como dice el refrán: "hay más tiempo que vida".

​Hay días en que uno despierta con temor, con la duda de no haber tomado las decisiones o el camino correcto; uno se levanta y piensa que es solo un día más. Pasa la mañana, pasa la tarde y llega la noche; luego otro día y otra semana, y seguimos viviendo y repitiendo patrones que tememos romper.

​Sin embargo, tanta abulia repetida y tanta pérdida me han hecho despertar. Así como al levantarme riego mis plantas, decidí también regar mi vida. Me preparo ese primer café con todo el amor y el tiempo del mundo; aprendí a degustar esa primera taza como un regalo, porque no siempre se tiene la suerte de abrir los ojos, abrazar la mañana y contemplar las aves que cada amanecer atraviesan ese pedacito de cielo que hago mío.

​Por eso, mis mañanas comienzan agradeciendo por mi sorbo de café, por mi hogar y por mis hijos; agradeciendo mientras contemplo las bondades de mi patio y el frescor del amanecer.

​Otra de las lecciones aprendidas ha sido ver el vaso medio lleno porque, como decía mi abuelita: "mientras hay vida, hay esperanza" y "al mal tiempo, buena cara". Es con esta idea que llego a la segunda interrogante. Adoro sonreír: le sonrío a quien me saluda, sonrío cuando voy por la calle y algo llama mi atención, y voy reinventando el día en mi cabeza, llenándola de esos disparates que me alegran la existencia. Pero, sin duda, la mejor carcajada es aquella que acompaña la de mis hijos o la de un amigo.

​La vida está llena de altas y bajas, de días malos y días buenos, pero siempre dependerá de nosotros cómo enfrentamos lo que nos sucede.

​Gracias por este tiempo que me han dedicado. Les dejo un abrazo como un rayo de sol y recuerden: una sonrisa puede ser el milagro del día.
