Drone Contest 10/10 | ATW
Good afternoon everyone,
if you haven't already seen, me and @bucipuci have decided to add a drone contest because currently the drone community has paused doing their contests.
How will it work/rules?
Everything has been explained by @bucipuci in "this post" so be sure to read that.
What is the "theme"?
As this is the first week l think it would be easier to not have theme, post anything you want as long as it is taken from a drone. The next contests will have different themes.
How will your photos be judged and where to submit your photos?
First of all, the contest will only be active for one week so be quick; and as @bucipuci mentioned: you will have to MARK your photo in your blog/article that you want to use in the competition, why? Because next week l will be making a poll with your MARKED photos so that the community can choose which is best. Where to submit? In the comments post your link of your blog, its that simply!
Prizes!?
l will be giving away 75% of the post's donations to the three winners in this order:
1st will get 35%
2nd will get 25%
3rd will get 15%
If you have anymore questions let me know down in the comments.
With that being it, l hope you all enjoyed and be sure to participate if you even have only one drone photograph!
Nice initiative. I think a lot of these communities just dried up because the posters themselves are quite niche on here, but also curators tend to just ignore them. I've seen it a lot throughout the past year unfortunately. Nice to see some attempts to bring some life back into them.
I have nothing to share at the moment but in a few days I might. I'll keep it in mind!
Absolutely I'm glad to be collaborating with @bucipuci for this small project! Thank you, l'm hoping to get some support for this project from some whales as l'm a very small blogger and currently with the donations that im getting the participation will just not be worth it.
Yeah many communities are dying out unfortunately.
Well l hope you do find something to capture! Have a wonderful weekend!
Pretty much what causes the smaller communities to die out. Either no curation efforts that encourage posting in them, or the people that run them struggle to encourage posting in them because there's little to no incentive. My own community suffers from this, I'd run more contests and happily throw out a financial reward but there's just no attention. I'm not throwing out my own money into this when my own posts often barely make more than $3.
So yeah, I fully understand it!
Yeah just in general hive is going downhill. Could be worth having a small team but that still won't help as you really need whales to support any project otherwise it just won't work unless you're one of the whales of course.
It's shit relying on whales for anything on Hive but when it comes to smaller communities their frequent input is definitely needed to keep them afloat. It's no surprise that as Hive's price declined a lot of the smaller communities dried up. One thing I've always tried to do is support people even if the post's topic doesn't necessarily interest me, especially if it's more niche.
It's not nice that this place is becoming basically just a finance and travel platform for the most part, as much as I love both of those myself.
Yeah that's how it is now with Hive. It's really easy to get demotivated when you get no attention which is what's happening a lot in Hive and that also applies when people want to do a project on Hive.
Personally l wouldn't want to be asking whales for support but without its useless, which in my opinion is unfair because everyone should be able to do interesting projects and be successful without any kind of special support.
unfortunately that's how it is...
While communities were a good way for people to find more of what they wanted, it did split us all up a bit. I remember before communities when it was all one long feed you'd have all kinds of people appearing in your comments even with some curiosity or something to say.
But yeah, communities did put us into our own little bubbles and there is the negative side to that where people stick to them a bit too much. And as user numbers shrink, naturally the more niche stuff gets hit harder. I do hope it'll change but meh, I don't have high confidence in Hive being what we all thought it would be after almost a decade of life.
Simple and to the point :-)
I hope that "experts" who have flown many hours with drones will also join.
"Kurz und Knap" as we say in German. Yeah l hope so to!
