WORK LIFE AND BALANCE #281
I currently work from the office, but I do not wish to be an office person in the long run. I do not want to be pursuing traffic all my life, I want to have a good amount of control over my time, and most of all when I start having kids, I want to be a father that is present in their life. I was talking with a colleague yesterday and she told me how in fact she grew up with both parents present in her life which made me wonder if I can actually be the kind of man who would be present in the life of my kids one day.

But considering the fact that I am very ambitious, I would want to take advantage of every opportunity I get at this stage of my life, I believe they will help me at the long run, this is why I do not mind doing the late hours now, so I don’t have to do them when I start having kids. I strongly believe where a person works can affect their work life balance. For me at the moment, work life balance isn’t what I am striving for, financial stability is the major goal.
When that goal is reached, work life balance becomes the next thing in mind and I hope to achieve it by working from home. This doesn’t mean that I would not have companies or institutions of my own, it simply means that after creating stability, the next thing is to create a system that would help me manage my creation while having enough time for my family. If my partner wishes to be a career person who is always on the road, at least one parent would get to be with the kids instead of leaving them with strangers pursuing stability.

I'm now seeing a lot of couple WFH. Are you guys not planning to transition to be able to stay with your kids the whole time? Some WFH jobs really pay well..
Sometimes it's not just about paying bills, it's about following ones passion. I would still appreciate WFH jobs even as we speak I am looking out for some. But aside the money I get from that, I still have dreams I will like to achieve and I will most likely want to achieve them before having kids
