WHAT THE HELL

It’s funny how much our society has changed. When did the organ market start to become a topic for discussion. It is sad that the economy has gotten so bad that people will sell their organs to survive. It is more sad that this is only possible due to technological intervention. I remember during my years in school I had female friends who traded their eggs for cash. As bizarre as it sounds in my thoughts I couldn’t blame them when they told me what they wanted to do. Even I at a point thought about trading my semen for cash, but my pride wouldn’t allow me. This is how hard life has become, people will do anything and everything just to survive and you won’t blame them because you do not know what led them to make the decision they made. Can you begin to imagine the pain of going through the knife and having part of your life taken because you choose to trade a kidney for cash? Whatever brought a person to that point in life isn’t normal, and until you can go through what they are going through and make a better decision, you have no right to judge them.

Now moving on, I also feel everyone has the right to do whatever they wish with their bodies as long as they are not putting the lives of others on the line. Also, I do not feel the black market is a place to be selling organs and that is what makes it illegal. A person's choice to sell their organ is on one side, what the organ is used for is also as important. It is both unethical and illegal to sell one's organs for experiments without following the right procedures and this is where the law comes in where both the donor and the buyer can be found guilty. The donor is guilty if they allow their organs to be used for anything illegal as they would have been an accomplice to evil. In this day and age defining good and evil is not every easy seeing how a person can choose to die just so another can live. You can no longer call it evil, in fact it would be recorded as a sacrifice and such a person would be regarded to have had honor.

So let’s be clear about it. Organ donation in itself is legal so long it goes through the right procedures and it is illegal if it is done for selfish purposes. For example if organs are needed to raise the dead, it is illegal no matter who the person involved is. This is because apart from it being unethically bizarre, the law is against it and it would be trying to cheat nature (death). These kinds of experiments exist in the black market and they are usually secrets. So if a person voluntarily allows a part of their organs to be taken in exchange for a huge sum, it is no longer a sacrifice, they are promoting evil and therefore it is illegal.

Very well said 👏. Although, it is not a worst thing, but selling one's body for selfish or personal gains only is. Recently, my uncle was in urgent need of a kidney, and his wife gave one healthy one. So, there are good cases as well, but the story, you haave mentioned is beyond comprehension.

Peace 🕊
