THE PSYCHO

When we talk about the issue of addiction, it goes way more than just an emotional response or craving, it's a mental and physiological deficiency in a person which if not treated would only get worse. Madness is not only when a person begins to act abnormal in every aspect, do you realize that addicts are not normal when the craving starts, they lose every sense of logic and rational thinking, they become impulsive all of a sudden and only want to satisfy the craving. Until that craving is satisfied, they are as good as useless. This happens even to the most intelligent of us all, no matter how intelligent a man is or the level of potential they carry, once they're addicted to something, it becomes hard to make them see reasons why they should stop, no matter how valid the reasons are, not even minding if it's killing them slowly, they will still not let go, at least not on their own. And even when they wish to stop, it's easier said than done.

I think the only difference between mad people and addicts is that addicts only behave irrationally when their cravings start, but mad people are mostly irrational and almost never logical. They are both psychological problems and thus should be treated the same way. This is not me trying to talk down on addicts because I know how they feel and have experienced it first hand, but this is me saying for an addict to be free, they must first admit they are addicts and seek professional help which is often very few in our society today. People are often scared to be mixed with actual mad people in a rehabilitation facility and thus do not want to be seen going to a psychiatric hospital or visiting a psychiatrist. Although this is quite understandable especially when a person’s reputation is on the line so many prefer to just live with it especially when the addiction can be hidden very well.

Yes I think addiction is a psychological disease and if we must be sincere with ourselves no one hates themselves more than the addict who lose parts of themselves every time they engage in that addiction. No one wishes they were free more than the addict, but if they knew how to be free, if they felt in control do you think they wouldn’t do so without a thought? This shows how much an addict needs help, because like mad people, they are powerless to help themselves in that situation. And I do not blame them when they choose to keep quiet instead of seeking help seeing how hostile the society is to addicts. Only a very few know how sick they are upstairs and can offer them a bit of help because to be honest when a logical person sees what an addict does in secret, it’s very easy to judge them and see the worse in them meanwhile they already see the worse in themselves and have judged themselves for it.

I also think addiction is a psychological disease, the first step of curing addiction is changing one’s mindset
