STRIVING UNDER PRESSURE #275

If there is one thing I have come to discover and love about myself, it is the fact that I am able to strive under pressure. If I am to be honest the process is not always pleasant, in fact I can not remember a single time it was ever pleasant, however, I am always proud of the result. Sometimes when things are flowing effortlessly I will admit that it makes me miss the pressure, the thrill, nervousness and goosebumps it gives me. This is not because I enjoy it, but because at the end of the day, something always changes within me which also makes me anticipate the next challenge. I think for me these are one of the things that makes life worth living.

When I started working in my company I was a digital marketer. But then the company needed an ICT professional. They needed someone who could build a website and although I had only done it once, I explained to them and they gave me the role anyway. This was how I doubled as both digital marketing personnel and ICT personnel. At first I thought the role wasn’t that tasking, and all I needed to do was just build a website, but then I started experiencing hackers attack on our server and knew there was a lot I did not know about the job.

The company lost a very good amount of data as a result of that attack, and I had to learn a bit of hectical hacking in the process. It was a lot at that time, It wasn’t easy gathering that knowledge, solving the problems and still showing up like nothing was happening. I had to learn to calm everyone’s nerves even though the majority of the time I did not know what the hell I was doing. I seeked help from friends and I was able to fix it at the end of the day. Today I am a business developer for the same company which for me is another challenge. I have targets to meet and to be honest, sometimes it still feels I do not know what I am doing, but I am learning, and I know that I must deliver in this new role.
