Pinky and Spiky Comics Making Contest: Web 3 Promise – Winner Announcement
Hello, Draw a Day Community and fans of pinky and spiky.
The two-week wait is over, The moment we've been waiting for has arrived. I’m excited to announce the winners of the Pinky and Spiky Comics Making Contest under the theme Web3 Promises. We had six amazing entries, and judging them based on the criteria: Creativity and Originality (40%), Humor and Entertainment (30%), and Artistic Skill and Execution (30%) was a tough but rewarding task. Shout out to Krisette @cabalen for her assessment which is a big help for me. Here are the results:
First Prize (2 Hive): @loverdoll
The café scene, where Spiky struggles with Web3 gas fees while tipping Betsy, stood out for its creativity and humor. The storyline critiques Web3’s high transaction costs in a relatable way, and Betsy’s “Whatevs!” reaction paired with Pinky’s laughter delivers a fantastic punchline. The artwork is detailed, with a well-executed setting and expressive characters, making this entry a wellrounded winner.
Scores:
Creativity: 38/40
Humor: 28/30
Artistic Skill: 27/30
Total: 93/100
Second Prize (1 Hive): @tinster
Tinster’s single panel comic about Spiky’s NFT duck purchase as his retirement omelette was a close contender. The originality of tying NFTs to a duck omelette was unexpected it perfectly captured the speculative nature of Web3 promises. The humor is good, and the characters’ expressions are spot-on, though the minimal background slightly lowers the artistic score.
Scores:
Creativity: 36/40
Humor: 27/30
Artistic Skill: 25/30
Total: 88/100
Third Prize (1 Hive): @allyson19
Pinky forgetting her keys and learning there’s no customer service is a clever take on decentralization. The humor in Cornelius’ “Good luck to that. Welcome to Web3” line is sharp, and the characters’ expressions enhance the storytelling.
Scores:
Creativity: 35/40
Humor: 26/30
Artistic Skill: 24/30
Total: 85/100
Honorable Mentions:
@hubyr: A fun token shop concept with great colors, but the humor could have been punchier. Total: 82/100.
@doodletrends: A thoughtful take on DAO voting with good dialogue, though the artwork feels a bit static. Total: 80/100.
@shookt: A solid shared ledger idea with a nice ensemble cast, but text readability needs improvement. Total: 79/100.
Congratulations to all the winners I will send your HIVE rewards shortly and a huge thank you to all participants for their creativity and humor. Shout out to all those who supported this contest in any way possible. See you again soon.
