First, I wanted to investigate how many stock exchanges operate in Venezuela, and I found that there are currently four stock exchanges authorized by the National Securities Superintendency (SUNAVAL):

• Caracas Stock Exchange (BVC): The oldest (1947) and with the highest volume of stock and fixed-income transactions.

• Bicentennial Public Stock Exchange (BPVB): Focused on the issuance of securities by the public sector and mixed-ownership companies, created in 2010.

• Venezuelan Agricultural Products and Inputs Exchange (BOLPRIAVEN): Specialized in the agricultural and agro-industrial sector.

• Decentralized Stock Exchange of Venezuela (BDVE): Authorized in 2020, focused on blockchain technology and decentralization.

To better understand the Stock Exchange, I wanted to delve into its origins and share them with you. According to what I've read, the concept originated in the city of Bruges, Belgium. Merchants gathered at the palace of a noble family named Van der Bürs. It is believed that the word "exchange" derives from this family's surname. They met there to trade bills of exchange and goods. The city's strategic location near the North Sea allowed it to become one of the most important commercial centers in Europe during the Middle Ages and the place where the concept of the "exchange" originated. inf

Very interesting to understand the origins of things, I found it fascinating.

The first official stock exchange is said to have taken place in Antwerp (1531), where the first building dedicated exclusively to business was established. It was the first time a meeting point was institutionalized for lenders and merchants to manage public and private debt. However, the main ingredient of the modern stock exchange was still missing: shares.

This marked a significant step towards the modern stock exchange, where it evolved in a very interesting way: the birth of the modern stock exchange in Amsterdam (1602) and the founding of the Dutch East India Company (VOC).

But there was a problem: traveling to Asia was extremely expensive and risky (shipwrecks, pirates, and a perilous adventure). A solution had to be devised: instead of a single nobleman financing the voyage, the company allowed any citizen to buy a "share" in the company. And what does this sound familiar to you? Yes, exactly: the first crowdfunding system in history.

This is how the Amsterdam Stock Exchange was born, the first in the world to trade the assets of a private company. The system was clear: if the ships returned with spices, the investor profited; if they sank, the risk was limited solely to the capital invested. This model laid the foundation for modern investment under shared risk, a concept that survives to this day.

Understanding "Shared Risk" today: a system where many people contribute a small amount of money to a large project; if the project fails, everyone loses a little (but not their personal wealth), and if it succeeds, everyone wins proportionally.

Thanks to this evolution, anyone can acquire shares in large companies. If this weren't the case, the world would still belong to kings and nobles, because they were the only ones with enough money to risk large businesses without being left destitute.

And that's how what we know today as the Stock Exchange came about and continued to evolve.

En primer lugar quise investigar cuantas Bolsas de Valores operan en Venezuela y me encontré que en mi país actualmente operan 4 Bolsas de Valores autorizadas por por la Superintendencia Nacional de Valores (SUNAVAL):

• Bolsa de Valores de Caracas (BVC): La más antigua (1947) y con mayor volumen de transacciones de acciones y renta fija.

• Bolsa Pública de Valores Bicentenaria (BPVB): Enfocada en la emisión de valores del sector público y empresas mixtas, creada en 2010.

• Bolsa de Productos e Insumos Agropecuarios de Venezuela (BOLPRIAVEN): Especializada en el sector agrícola y agroindustrial.

Para comprender un poco más sobre Bolsa de Valores quise ir un poco más atrás e investigar sus orígenes para compartirlos con ustedes, según lo que he leído el concepto nació en la ciudad de Brujas. en Bélgica. Muy interesante comprender los orígenes de las cosas, a mi me ha resultado fascinante.

En cuanto a la primera Bolsa oficial se dice que tuvo lugar en Amberes (1531) aquí se creó el primer edificio dedicado exclusivamente a los negocios. Fue la primera vez que se institucionalizó un punto de encuentro para que prestamistas y mercaderes gestionaran deuda pública y privada. Sin embargo, todavía faltaba el ingrediente principal de la bolsa moderna: las acciones.

En este momento se da un gran paso hacia la Bolsa moderna y donde evoluciona de una manera muy interesante: El nacimiento de la Bolsa moderna en Ámsterdam (1602) y se funda la Compañía Holandesa de las Indias Orientales (VOC).

Pero había un problema: viajar a Asia era carísimo y muy arriesgado (naufragios, piratas y una aventura muy riesgosa). Se tuvo que idear una solución: en lugar de que un solo noble financiara el viaje, la compañía permitió que cualquier ciudadano comprara una "participación" (acción) de la empresa. El sistema era claro: si los barcos regresaban con especias, el inversor ganaba; si naufragaban, el riesgo se limitaba únicamente al capital aportado. Este modelo sentó las bases de la inversión moderna bajo riesgo compartido, un concepto que sobrevive hasta nuestros días.

Entendiéndose como "Riesgo Compartido" en la actualidad : como un sistema donde muchas personas ponen un poco de dinero para un gran proyecto; si el proyecto falla, todos pierden un poco (pero no su patrimonio personal), y si tiene éxito, todos ganan proporcionalmente.

Gracias a esta evolución cualquier persona puede adquirir acciones de grandes empresas, si no fuese así, el mundo seguiría siendo de los reyes y los nobles, porque ellos eran los únicos que tenían suficiente dinero para arriesgar en grandes negocios sin quedar en la calle.

Y es así como se dio paso y siguió evolucionando lo que hoy conocemos como Bolsa de Valores
